IPod Is Fixed! *
EDIT: You know what is Food of the Gods? Crusty bread with Brie cheese! We took the cheese out of the refrigerator this afternoon and let it warm up to room temperature and, wow! That is good! Bread, cheese and an Ipod that works like a dream! Life is good!
This morning I headed out to Small Dog Electronics, our local Mac place, with my poor dying Ipod clutched in my hand. My first surprise was that from the back the young man at the service counter was the spitting image of my younger son! He was 6 ft 6 in {I asked him}, a bit chubby under his T Shirt and had a head of curls which my kid does when he lets his hair grow! He even wore glasses like my kid!
Anyway, the second surprise was that they could put a new battery in for me in the next 15 minutes! And the price? The battery was $20 and the labor was $20. Hmmm, I’d like to make $80 an hour! But that is much better than Circuit City who wanted $30 to send it away, told me there was a 10 to 14 working-day turnaround to get it back and had no idea what it would cost! So now it is in the charger charging up the battery and merrily playing awayLater this afternoon, when it is fully charged, I will take it and me out for a little walk…This morning I tried hooking up the DVD player. Since I could not find the remote, I haven’t any idea if I succeeded or not. I looked at the directions for programming the Dish Network remote and blanched! Well, eventually I will succeed {or not}– it is not a big thing. Both of us have videos we like but then we both have laptops where we can play them, too!I haven’t yet got to the kitchen floor {a never-ending job} but I will do this probably when Fred heads out for groceries. Before I left this morning, he asked me to park my car on the street so he can get out and back in, so I assume that is what he had in mind.
I have done my morning Italian. I am trying not to lose what I learned during the first part of this course. This morning I worked on memorizing 1 thriough 16 in numbers.
uno, due, tre , quattro, cinque, sei, sette, otto, nove, dieci, undici, dodici, tredici, quattordici, quindici, sedici…
I stopped at 16 because the pattern changes there. and there is a completely different word. I will go on to that tomorrow. I also worked on memorizing the present tense of avere {to have} and essere, to be. Both of these verbs are irregular and both are very common so, memorization is important.I am fighting sleepiness. I will NOT take a nap because it will mess up my night’s sleep…
Well I’ve unCOVERED part of our kitchen floor. . .

Did you tell the man that he looks like your son? 🙂

I still get awed over how similar Italian and Spanish are. Numbers= uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once, doce, trece, catorce, quince… and then the patter changes. and ‘to be’ is Ser (one from of it anyway. 🙂 Glad you got your iPod fixed.

Random Noter: That’s awesome that you’re learning Italian! I would like to become conversational in Spanish and then tackle Italian as well. I’ve never taken a formal course, but I loved one of the Italian language learning CDs that I found at the library. Do you ever listen to Josh Groban? He has some wonderful Italian songs. 🙂

Glad the iPod was so easy to fix; too bad it was so darned expensive! A girl at the gym today was reading Harry Potter in Russian! She says that’s how she keeps up on her language skills from having lived there two years. Good idea, I thought.

YAY for working iPods!!! 🙂 That is so much easier than A. sending it away; or B. purchasing a new one. Enjoy your tunes! 🙂

Any retail firm with Small Doggie for its name has got to be good. Nice Kitty would also be good.

I can’t wait for the day of personal robots so that the chores will get done which will leave me more time for books and art. 😉 Those Roomba things look interesting, but they’d terrify the cats. And thank you for the card, I really needed some cheering up today, and it certainly helped.

excellent about the ipod. hooray!

I’m impressed that you have an IPOD. Hub and me still don’t, even though we have given them as gifts to our two daughters over the past four or so years. I’m still just playing CDs, silly old me. 🙂

Have you tried splitting the brie crosswise, and spreading it with sun-dried tomato paste? Put it in the oven for a few minutes until runny, then dip your crusty french bread into it. Nirvana!

Hooray for a fixed iPod! I don’t know what I ever did without mine. And yes. Crusty bread and Brie cheese really *is* the Food of the Gods!

I’ve lost the recharger to my iPod and I am devestated!!! I’ve tried looking for a new one everyone, but nobody seems to sell them. I am so lost without it. I learnt Italian for 6 months when I was 15 years old. I have always remembered counting up to 20 in Italian and I taught my niece how to do it when she was 18 months old. She was very clever to remember it all and, at 5 now, still does..

I’m glad your IPOD is fixed! And I make lists of “foods you get to eat in Heaven” also…. I agree, crusty bread with cheese OR lots of real butter!!…. will be there! :o) !! The numbers are not unlike French. Oddly, I can still count to twenty in French (which I only took in high school) but do not remember the numbers in German…. my minor, in college! Here’s wishing you a lovely day! hugs, Weesprite
