I Hate Moving*

EDIT : Just because I can, I am editing this because the DM has fixed the capabilites to do this in chapters that are above the original nine we were first alotted!

Everything I have bagged or boxed so far is marked with a name, what is in it and where it should go. There are four cardboard boxes filled, stacked up and marked in "my" corner of the bedroom. The marks say things like "Patricia/winter clothes/porch". In addition there are the two plastic containers I keep my off-season clothes in and the big container we keep blankets in. In the corner in Fred’s side of the room are three big plastic bags of clothes marked "Fred/clothes/master bedroom." Then there are two big plastic totes just marked "Fred/clothes/porch" because I could not face sorting through what kind of clothes they were. Still to be done in the bedroom are the stuff on top of and at the side of Fred’s chest of drawers and the stuff in his closet. He will do that. Oh, and the rest of the stuff on my side of the bed and in my little closet which I will do.

Mike was playing loud {VERY loud} music and banging around on the porch earlier and now his truck has gone to the dump so maybe there will be some room in there for me to move the lighter stuff… He has not answered my email. Fred said he will call him and talk to him.  Tomorrow I am going to continue with boxing up books in the living room. We bought 24 small boxes and 20 large ones. As I look at what still has to be done, I can see we will need more…

I hate moving…

Until later….

One time when I moved, maybe twenty years ago, a friend said “Figure out how many boxes you need, and then get twice that many.” It’s always been accurate. But maybe you’re a better judge than I am!

Yes moving can be a trying experience.

As I read your moving chronicles I feel as though I ought to do another “clean sweep”>

I hate moving too. :S

Nightmare, that’s what moving is. I never thought I would ever have to move and let acquistions multiply. Hey, I needed (wanted) all that stuff… I think. I sorry now,

Moving sucks, to be crude about it. I hate it, myself, but you are making such terrific progress you really ought to congratulate yourself.

Moving is exhausting! But it’s a good opportunity to get rid of stuff, clean, and re-organize. You probably don’t care about that right about now. Ok, I’ll go away! 🙂

Moving is such a pain! I hope you don’t have to do it again any time soon.

I hate moving too. If I ever have to move again I think I will take all the memorbilia and start new with everything else…LOL Like I could ever afford to do that. I don’t envy you one bit right now. 🙂

I have just moved. I got all flustered when it got to packing, so my friends came and packed for me. They are angels! Now I cannot face the unpacking! I hope your move goes smoothly. Good luck with the packing.

Moving sucks! :o) !! and…. you label boxes? oh! I never thought of doing that! hehe. hugs, Weesprite

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I dreaded packing. I dread unpacking. Bleh. It’s a pain all around.

I’m just the opposite..I love moving. It’s a time to declutter, dispose and redecorate! LOL! But yea…it’s a pain in the ass, too 🙂

Sending hugs and sympathy! I know just how this feels! Course, I also had to get into a major “Throw it AWAY” mode. No easy feat for me! Hang in there! It will be over before you know it!!!!!! Love you great big bunches! ~M

I would hate having to “pack up” this house and move again. The last move from Texas caused me to throw out a lot of stuff. I really need to do that again.

July 19, 2006

Ha! You must have read his entry at the same moment I did. LOL!

After our last move, I swore I would never go through it again. I’d sell it all, lock-stock-and-barrel, and leave with a suitcase of clothes only. In the end it would probably be cheaper to buy everything new in the destination than pay to ship all our stuff there.

July 19, 2006

Im glad he finally got it fixed.

I hate moving too! I know I am moving in mid September but can’t really do anything since my SO doesn’t have a clue and I don’t plan to tell until I move. Thankfully I haven’t unpacked a lot of “stuff” from the last move.

July 19, 2006

moving is a real pain in the backside! i hope never to have to do it again in this lifetime. take care,

July 19, 2006

I’m totally with you on the hating moving… even if you did just edit this. My moving truck got here, I unloaded with the driver’s help (thank GOD), got stung by a wasp (my hands are tingly), and am nearly dying from heat exhaustion. AAAAAAND, my whole house is FULL of boxes. Bleh

July 19, 2006

I got double my best guess. It was OK cause the movers took back any I didn’t use and refunded the cost. Of course since you are just moving downstairs, you may not need to box every single thing….I ended up with many car trips to pick up the leftovers.

Moving is a big job. It just is. The last time we moved we moved around the corner. It was so close that we walked some of our things over here. It was still and enormous job. Try not to overdo in the heat, Patrisha. Good luck.

you can do it. it will be worth it. hang in there. (think of packing and lifting those boxes as “exercise.”

Moving OUT is the pits… but moving IN is often wonderful and full of joy. You get to start over and make room for new things – things that better suit who you are NOW…. Mazeltov on the new home!

moving is a big chore. and i bet the boxes you had to buy cost a bit of money. but just think how happy you are going to be in your new home! :+)
