Hi, There!

This entry is coming to you via a new IMac which I picked up this morning. But it wasn’t as easy as that. First, I called to see if the one I wanted had arrived from the other store in Waitfield. A different person from the man who had sold it to me answered the phone. He put me on hold while he went off to check. {The store is called Small Dog Electronics so the music I was forced to listen to was songs about dogs which was cute to start with and then got to be tiresome} He came back and after asking me who sold it to me, said that if I actually wanted the one I paid for, it would take an order to Apple and a wait of 7 to 10 days! He said the stores don’t keep them in stock and all the salespersons knew that. Before I could say a word, he laughed and said, "I guess everyone except Don!" Now, Don had told me that he had only been there four days so I guess that was a bit of the orientation that didn’t stick with him. Anyway, JJ, the guy I was talking to, apologized profusely and asked if I want to go ahead and order and wait or did I want  to get one of the ones they had in the shop! Well, there are no prizes offered for guessing which one I went with! I was going to get a refund of $300 so I went ahead and asked him to add an external hard drive for backups.

After lunch I got home, and with help from Fred, got the box into the house. I was dying to set it up but thought I should probably get the old monitor and a huge collection of wires out of the way. So, I sat on the floor and traced wires to their source and and put them aside. Then I swept under the desk. There was a small family of dust bunnies whom I relegated to the trash. I put the 24 inch monitor on the desk and attached the mouse. The first thing that came up on the screen was to choose my language. I had a problem with this because although the mouse moved the cursor, I couldn’t figure out how to make it click! It didn’t seem to have anything that was obviously a button. Eventually, by trial-and-error, I figured out that pressing on the mouse makes it click and so I continued with the setup. Getting onto the Internet was amazingly easy. {I am comparing it with a PC setup which isn’t amazingly easy!} Apparently Airport was on and it gave me a list of connections it had found. I chose ours and put in the password. And here I am!

I am going to play around with it today. The first thing I want to do is to download Firefox. I really don’t like Safari. Actually, I should probably give it more of a trial than I did on the Mac Book because back then, it didn’t support WYSIWYG and I couldn’t use the editing bar. But I just noticed that there the bar is!And I LOVE the 24 inch flat screen!

More later…

24 INCH? Holy cow, woman, the NEIGHBORS will be able to read that! LOL. I’m totally jealous with my dinky little 14-incher. I need to check under my desk. I’ll bet I’ve got a six-generation family of dust bunnies under there. Wanna come evict them?

When I bought Lady Wife her MacBook Air, I was amazed at the simplicity of the setup.

You never seece to amaze me with your ability to take on a task. I love that you are so excited about getting a computer. I would have to hire someone to come and show me how to set it up if it were not for my husband. He is the computer wiz. Thank goodness or I still would not be online enjoying this website. Congrats on a job well done. My hubby said the next comptuer we get will bea Imac

Completely unrelated to this entry but I’ve been noticing the photo posted with your entries. I must say the subject matter and the execution of it are gorgeous and amazing. You are art, lady. Fred is a very lucky guy…but he knows that.

I love playing with new computers! Wow I have dual monitors and my larger screen is 22″ and it seems pretty big to me, you’re going to really love that 24″ screen!

Dust bunnies? I fear the ones that lurk under my desk and in other unreachable parts of the house are the size of Elk and ready to migrate…

Wow – 24 inches sounds fandabedozee! I’m currently using a 19″ but after the laptop 15″ it’s brill. A new computer is the dog’s bollocks if you’ll pardon the expression!
