Fred read my last entry and he is buying me a Kindle for my birthday!
I have it ordered, and it should be here by Wednesday.
{dances up and down in excitement}
When he offered to buy it for me, I told him I was thinking of getting it when the prices went down {as of course, they will} He pointed out to me that at my age I may be dead in a year or two! Yes, he is right. He is not being morbid. He is just stating a fact.
So, I am getting a Kindle!

None will improve your lot If you yourself do not.

:-))))))) you know, any of us could be dead in a year. Not morbid – a fact! Its the only thing any of us can be sure of in life … one day, we will be gone, we just don’t know when. 🙂 glad you are excited… now I have to go find out what a Kindle is. Reading backwards.

Oh, that Fred is a keeper! I am wanting one, too, because it would be oh so much more convenient to take places and I could keep books without them taking up space in my house. You will enjoy it so much! Congrats!

That is wonderful of Fred! I would love to know what you think of them, given my voracious reading habits, having one of those might not be a bad idea.
Warning Comment
That Fred’s a real keeper! 🙂

I’m keeping my eye on those things. Yes I am. I understand you can subscribe to The New York Times, and have it deleivered to your Kindle every day. That’s a big plus for me… I like to read the NYT, but it’s hard to find a “paper copy” around here. I dislike reading it over the web for two reasons: One, the placement of the articles (and, sometimes, the articles themselves) change toomuch when I’m trying to read it. And, two, I can’t pick my PC up and take it with my while running errands, or on a bus ride. I also honestly think those things will be revolutionary for students. When I was in college, I had to buy tons of books every semester. This was quite expensive, and they were a real pain to carry around, and (sometimes) to keep track of. If every college student had a Kindle, they could keep their text books on that. I really think that the Kindle is “going places.” I don’t want to buy one now, because I want to wait for prices to be reduced, and I figure they’re probably going to make changes to it – refine it, etc. – after it’s been out awhile. If this thing is for real, though, I WILL be buying one, at some point.

Of course, if Fred wanted to buy a Kindle for me, too, I’d be more than happy to take it. :-p (just joking, of course)

He’s an awesome guy Patricia. And while he’s stating a fact, its still disturbing to think like that. Awesome that Fred got that for you though. 🙂
