Good Thoughts
I get a positive quote a day in email and mostly I read them, say, "Yeah, yeah!" and delete them. But the one I got this morning went "Boooiinggg!" in my mind. It was "None will improve your lot If you yourself do not." {Bertolt Brecht, 1933} So, I put it at the bottom of my entry so I can read it every day. Why it reverberated so much with me is because I have not been working on my exercises at home with my heart and soul. Yes, I have been doing them but not with the intensity that Candace forces me to put into them. And I have been half-heartedly telling myself that I need to lose a little weight. But have I been walking? Of course not! If I don’t care enough about myself to do these two things {exercises and walking daily} then who will?
Ok, enough of that. Today it is snowing! Again! I don’t know why I am surprised because this is, after all, winter in Vermont, but I was amazed this morning. I don’t know if we are having a lot or a little snow and I will check the weather channel later, but, we are definitely having snow. The bright side of this is that when I go for the afore-mentioned walk, I can wear my new coat! {As I was writing this, I found myself thinking that being aware of the bright side is another indication that I am slowly climbing back to the person I used to be before the surgery and the stress of the trip }
Another indication of the improvement in my mind is that I am looking forward to going back to school again. My first day is the 22nd and it will be a double-class day. From 11:30 until 2:30 I will have ceramics and then from 3:00 until 4:30 I will be taking Italian I again. On the following Thursday, I will have only Italian. I have been thinking of the food problem on Tuesdays,. If I eat a protein and a little fat before I leave home {I am thinking of a cheese omelet here} That should carry me to 2:30. Then I will also carry with me a sandwich and a piece of fruit to eat at 2:30. I need to get this into my mind because otherwise I will be eating expensive and not-good food from Starbucks which is right by the school!
Yesterday I exhausted myself doing laundry. After it was all put away and the bed had clean sheets, that was it for the day. So, today, just little necessary things! And my stomach tells me it is time to start with breakfast.QUOTATIONS:
"Step by step. I can’t think of any other way of accomplishing anything."

None will improve your lot If you yourself do not.

As soon as I saw the word snow I thought ” Patrisha can wear her new coat! ” LOL SO glad that you are getting excited about school again!! Hugs, M

What a perfect quote for me to hear today too.. Your meal plan sounds good for the long day. I know that bringing healthy food has saved me big time. I think we have already gotten 5 inches of snow today and we expect 8 more!

I’ve been eating so much junk of late because of the whirlwind aspect of my life that I have been feeling physically awful. So, that’s the way I need to improve. I like Michael Jordan’s quote, too. Seems a propos for me right now, as I have a HUGE task I need to accomplish (the move, yech!), and the only way it will get done is a little at a time.

I like that inspiring thought. Sort of reminds me of something I heard at a WW meeting….. “If nothing changes…. nothing changes”. *sigh*

I think it’s interesting that you connect a good portion of your doldrums to the stress of your trip, yet at the same time you are still planning on another similar trip. I love that quote and applaud your determination to get back on track.

I need to start thinking this way. I keep complaining that I’m too heavy, and I *know* what I have to do to fix that problem. I need to go to the gym and bike those 7 miles at least three times a week. And I need to start walking the dog more often and using my Tae Bo dvd occasionally too. !! I know these things and I’m the only one that can make that happen.

WE started out with alot of snow but we hardly have any left. I heard there is a Northestern headed that way. Just wondering if you will be effected? It’s getting colder here so it is headed your way. Beware!

ryn: Yes! Bookshelves!! That’s another reason I was so excited about the window seat with storage in the nursery — I would’ve given anything when I was younger for a window seat with a cushion and pillows to sit and read on!!

Wishing I was there to buy you a latte and a sandwich on your first day back in class. I wonder if that little tea shop is still open?

You are so right about caring about yourself and YOU ARE WORTH IT! =) You’re so smart to be thinking about foods that will give you sustenance and bring food to eat while you’re at school.
