Facts about Me
So, some facts about me that you may or may not know. Feel free to skip if you want to.
- I was born in Nottingham, England, in 1934.
- I am not old enough to know Robin Hood although there are times I feel that old. {And, besides, he most likely didn’t exist…}
- I am the adult child of an alcoholic mother
- My father was a policeman. Some other jobs he held in his life were a coal miner and a Grenadier Guard.
- When I was in college in England I had the double majors of art and English literature.
- My only sister died last year of lung cancer. She had never smoked a day in her life. But we were raised around heavy smokers…
- I am a retired teacher.
- I taught language arts {mostly writing} to seventh graders for 30 years in the same school in rural Mississippi.
- I have a pronounced English accent.
- I have had two different cancers–renal and endometrial.
- I live with a man I met on the Internet.
- We are working on our eighth year together.
- I am the mother of two sons. One is 50 and the other is 29.
- The younger one has a girlfriend he met by following a note she left on my diary back to hers…
- I am taking a class in college in Italian.
- About three years ago, I lost about 50 pounds under the auspices of a study done by the University of Vermont.
- It was done by calorie counting and walking.
- I have kept 40 of those pounds off.
- I do pastel paintings. The Eye of a Fish in the profile picture is an example of my work.
- I am tall but not as tall as I used to be.
- I used to live in Mississippi because my ex husband is from there. We met and married when he was stationed in England.
- Some other jobs I have had in my life are librarian and bookseller.
- I wear glasses and have done since I was about 8.
- I have had cataracts removed and lenses implanted.
- This has pretty well fixed the myopia The glasses I wear now are to correct "age-related astigmatism."

Wow. I knew all of this except the bookseller part. When were you a bookseller? Was that in a book store or some other kind of selling? I can’t think of any other questions. I’d make a terrible reporter—I guess I’m not curious enough. LOL!

I do have a question. I’ve been lurking for a while now. You are almost the age my mom would be if she had not died (ovarian cancer) a little over two years ago. I am 36, and my mom was 39 when she had me. I see here that you must have been around 43 when your second son was born. One of the things I would love to ask my mom if she were still alive is: how did you feel about having a baby “later” in life? (I myself just had my first and want to have more but I already feel “tired” (sleep deprivation is part of it I know). So my question for you is: How did you feel about being a mom again at 43?

Have you lived any other places besides England, Mississippi, and Vermont? How many different places in England did you live, and what is your favorite place (town or whatever you’d like to name) in England? What is your favorite book for kids, the age that you taught? What is your own all-time favorite book (or books, if you can’t narrow it down to just one!) There! :o) !! That is great that you have kept most of the weight off for three years. You are always very concious of what you eat. That is also good.
