Evening
I have finished the five-page paper and all I have to do is find my three-hole puncher, punch holes and put the whole thing in a folder. If I cannot find the three-hole puncher, which is a high possibility then I will take the easy road of stapling the top right corners together and la prof will get it like that.
Technically, I have been for two walks today although the first one was about a block to get my hair cut short again and to the drugstore. I will get a longer walk tomorrow morning because Leslie will be here after she gets off work at 8 am. I don’t know if I will get in another one…
I had forgotten it gets dark so early when I went out on my second walk. But it was fun to see the Christmas trees all lit up and decorations on my walk. And when I came home, I saw our tree through the dining room window…
Number of steps walked today: 3855
I was interested enough to read today {in Prevention, I think} of the results of asking adults to write down every day for a week three things that had gone well and why they happened. Apparently although the experiment only lasted a week, the participants reported feeling happier for six months after.
iPoddery: Comments about music on "shuffle" on my IPod coming up while I type.
- "Unfortunate Miss Bailey" sung by the Kingston Trio. I have NO idea where I got that from!
- "Sinner Man" sung by The Weavers
- "Whistle Down the Wind; No Matter What" played by Julian Lloyd Webber. This is one of those tunes that always earworms its way into my head! I heard it first, I think, on a DVD that Fred has and went hunting on ITunes for different versions of it.
- "The Black Freighter" sung by Steeleye Span.
- "I Am a Rock" Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel
- "Bleeker Street" Again Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel
- "Now is the Month of Maying" sung by Broceliande. This is a madrigal I learned to sing in school. I learned to sing the alto part… It is interesting because it rhymes the works "Speak" and "Break" {as /breek/} which, of course, we would pronouncve quite differently.
- "Democracy" written and sung by Leonard Cohen. It’s Cohen, what else can I say…
Ok, I am off to put together my paper…
Until later….
That “three things” experiment sounds interesting. Wonder if I could do that, I’m a person who lets good stuff wash over me without noticing and I come unglued when things aren’t good, so I notice them more.

I had to refresh my memory on that madrigal. Found a good version here, if a little fast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnSYsXYC7Q0

I’ve hardly been out walking at all in weeks because of the constant rain we’ve been having. I still love Simon and Garfunkel. ryn: Reading those letters was really fun.

I do a variation on the three things everyday as part of my therapy, but rather they are emotions, of any sort, and what I use to cope with the intensity. But I really like the three good things.

the tunes sound wonderful. I recently won an i-pod but haven’t done anything with it yet due to my broken wrist & I have to hunt & peck, frustrating. I will probably wait till after the New Year. I think daughter is going to buy me the unit that i-pod hooks into & plays from the car radio, I think.
