Early Afternoon
I have been to the library and back again. The library is at the bottom of a long series of hills which means I walked uphill coming back. Going down was easy not only because it was going downhill but because the road was cleared off. I walk on the road in weather like this whenever I can. By sheer force of habit, I went up Main Street on the way back and HAD to walk on the icy sidewalk. I was halfway home when I thought "Why am I coming home this way?" And the answer is because that is the way I usually come home! I am SUCH a creature of habit. But because it is not safe to walk in the road with the cars, I had to walk on the icey sidewalks all the way home!
Tomorrow is my massage appointment so I thought I should probably clean the snow off my car and make sure it will start before tomorrow. If I am not going to turn up for my appointment, I feel I need to give Beth as much notice as possible since she has to drive further than I do. My car started beautifully so I left it running and started on the snow clearing. Well, now I know why people clear off their cars evey day even when they know it will snow again. I cleared off the top layer only to find the next layer was protected by a sheet of ice! All the ice had to be cracked before I could sweep it off! But, it is done. Tomorrow I will do Fred’s car {or maybe even this afternoon} and he can go to the store {if he wants to} while my car is out from behind his. So, even though I didn’t walk with Leslie this morning, I did get some physical activity in.
What I haven’t done is any Italian. But I can still do that because the plan for the day was to take the comprehension test for Capitoli 1 and 2 in in the book Pasta per due. The test consists of sentences which are vero o falso. I have to write V or F for the answers and then rewrite the false ones making them true. There is also a paragraph where le preposizioni have been left out and have to be put in. Ack! I have problems with prepositions in Italian.
Hey, you’re the art circle sponsor right? I just joined a few days back. Nice to meet you.

*huggs* and ryn: it was reading and a practice test, nothing major.

RYN: Oh I think I may be in competition here – I have lists galore – a sort of ongoing one covering a couple of months which goes on Microsoft Outlook on the computer with reminders that pop up on the date I set on them (and I DO NOT know how I survived without this before I discovered it!) – a similar one related to work on my work computer – post-it notes in my bag for urgent things to be done that day & a small list of things to remember to do outside the house & work in my filofax in my bag! I think I’ll have that crown thank you!!

I’m about to get on the treadmill and do my walking/jogging training. After reading about your trek in the snow I feel like a big ol’ weenie for even considering NOT doing so!

I’m glad you made it over the icy sidewalks without falling! I will tell you a secret that my husband used when he delivered mail on foot on city routes. He would wear golf shoes. The cleats would grab hold of the ice and he didn’t have to worry about untreated steps either! Just an idea. I have seen the shoe slipover cleats too. Just be careful!!!

I am so blessed with the fact that we have a covered garage. I only have to plug in the van when it is cold here. RYN: My baby didn’t get sick. I think that my holy mother prayed it away. Also, I love teaching. It makes me very happy.

Good luck getting your homework done. I am taking three long distance learning courses. One on Desktop Publishing, another on Nutrition and the last Photography. The Photography is proving to be the most difficult.

A friend of mine went snowshoeing today. “No thank you!” say I! I’d rather be warm! You are brave and ambitious to walk on all that ice.

Yes I teach art but am new to teaching. Funny thing, I spent years in London working as a Book Designer.

ryn: My grandsons are now 2 and 3 years old. Landan does not belong to my son but he has raised him since he was 2 months old. Still, he was his mom’s only child and he could do no wrong, she never corrected him since they lived alone for a long time and then my son came on the scene and started taking over. still, he is a mama’s boy and no one can tell him what to do or how to do it. He is down right horrible, she can’t handle him and now regrets not taking steps to keep him in line. She says she has a good and bad boy, he is not bad, just not disciplined and now very hard to do it, he doesn’t respond to anything you do or say to him. I make him mind when he’s at my house but when he’s around his mom, he is a terror, he knows she won’t do much to him or tell him to behave. I give them both the same attention but of course johnathan lives with me so I don’t see landan as often. He also gets away with things at his other daddy’s house so that also does not help. I am hoping once he gets into school he might calm down some and start to act right since mom won’t be able to be with him all day, will have to wait and see I guess. Have a good sunday,

oh, is that why Joe always clears off our cars, even if we do not have to go anywhere after a snow?! I wouldn’t have known either! And I’m glad you made it home safely even though you took the icy path. If I had chosen an icy path, I’d still be back at the start of it, trying to stay on my feet for the first step! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite (p.s. it was wind chill way down below zero here in Augusta,ME today!!)
