,Day 2 in NC

Well,  I made it to NC after 24 hours of no sleep and more physical activity than I have taken for a long time! I went to bed about  10 pm

and  slept right through until 6 am.

High points so far:

  • We had Pizza Hut Pizza last night. Do you know how many years it  has been since I  had Pizza Hut Pizza? And just in case you didn’t know, cold Pizza Hut Pizza  for breakfast is the Food of The Gods! Fred used to think I was very strange to eat any pizza cold, and the fact that Jake agrees with me shows that he was Well Brought Up!
  • Jake rides his motor bike to work, and the plan was that I would use his truck. That was until I actually saw it and discovered I can’t get in it without considerable effort . And that has nothing to do with the fact that I am Officially Old and Somewhat Infirm!  It  is the biggest truck I have ever seen which is not at all surprising when you remember  that its owner is 6 foot 8 inches. And apropos of that, living  in his house is like living in the house of a giant where all the chairs  and couches are bigger than normal  and the pictures on the wall are set at his eye level and not at mine! Anyway, Jake went online and rented a small car for me while I am here and we will pick it up on Saturday.
  • One thing that is nice for me is that he has two cats. They are rescued cats ( see, I told you he was Well Brought Up!} and although they are not brothers, they became good  friend in the shelter  so I am glad he took both of them. They are talkative cats too, which I also like. They are friendly cats, too, although a bit wary of me as yet. In fact, Rocky came out from where he was sleeping last night when he heard Jake in the kitchen and when he saw me he was all puffed up although last night he was friendly and affectionate with me!
  • Today I am going to put stuff we went out to buy last night into a crock pot and we will have beef stew tonight. Apart from that, and getting a shower and washing my hair, I am planning to do as little as possible for the rest of the day.

Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone. ~Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers)

You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are

happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but

trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change

your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to

correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working.

Cold pizza for breakfast sounds good to me! Couldn’t imagine David eating it cold, but he likes everything hot. I’m surprised he doesn’t heat up his ice cream!

glad you are there and enjoying yourself. i was thinking this morning as i went to my jeep grand cherokee from the gym that my jeep is no longer one to the larger vehicles. there are bigger suv’s and trucks. i was parked by one that towered over my jeep and was longer and probably even wider. i’m glad you are getting a smaller vehicle to get around town in. your son sounds like he is a very good man… rescuing cats, 2 of them even! offering you his truck, even though it’s huge! and liking cold pizza for breakfast. i don’t think you could have done any better. take care,

i do prefer cold pizza over hot, i always burn the roof of my mouth. sounds like you are enjoying the time. it will go by fast. but you can get out and get lost in the city or do some research before you get the car to see what you want to visit while there.

LOL over the cold pizza and the truck! And the kitties. Just wait till you wake up in the morning with one of them snuggled up with you. I can hear the cheer in your voice.

When I had to use my son’s truck for a spell, I had to carry a Rubbermaid stepstool in it just to be able to reach the windshield to scrape it. Six feet eight inches? WOW.
