Clean-Up Time!

I have ALMOST finished cleaning out and reorganizing my work room. Most of the work today was on the floor. I was actually embarrassed at the state of the floor. It was not only covered with boxes which prevented me from doing anything except sitting at my computer, but it also had thick dust in the corners. Let’s say I can’t remember the last cleaning.

So, I swept the floor, took out two bags of recyclable paper– and to be fair to myself, one bag was from the shredder –Swiffer dry-mopped the floor and finally wet mopped. It is also a little embarrassing to admit that I had to use three wet pads before it came clean. Anyway,it looks really nice now.

I got a spare bookshelf from the storage area where it has been since we moved in, wiped the white paint clean, and found a place for it. This entailed moving my non-computer desk up against the wall. I moved all my Italian books to the new bookshelf and tomorrow I will clean off the stuff which is still piled up on the non-computer desk and the computer desk.

The incentive behind all this is not only shame at the condition I had let this room get into, but also my desire to get back to some art. I couldn’t even GET to my art table until today!

1. One positive self statement:I did really well at cleaning up today.

2. One thing I am grateful for that is outside of my control: If it snows tomorrow, I am going to enjoy the way it makes everything look so white and clean. And go for a walk round the block while it is snowing.

3. One thing I will do to be kind to myself today: After I am finished here, I am going to read the latest Donna Leon book I found Kindlized today! Then I will watch "Top Chef."

{The idea for this came from Principassa Pollyanna. Acknowledged with thanks.}

I will have to do a major clean up job when my children leave Friday morning! Good for you! I always feel great after I clean and or organize.

YAY for your Three Statements!!! I’m so tickled to see someone doing this. 🙂

I need to do that kind of cleaning in my craft/piano room!!!! The reason I keep stalling is because I have a lack of storage available in there. It’s a MESS!!!! LOL Hugs,M

I love the feeling I get when I get a room really clean. I know that’s a little geeky, but oh well. I like your 3 motivational statements!

Your narrative about cleaning up the workroom made me think of this quote: All loss is gain. Since I have become so near-sighted I see no dust or squalor, and therefore conceive of myself as living in splendor. ~ Alice James

I wish that I had time to really go through some things in this place. Clean up can be very rewarding when it is done.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt embarrassed by seeing my place in a sorry state of mess…..but I have been embarrassed a few times by having someone ELSE see it that way! :o) !! Oooh, I look forward to seeing some of your art projects once you get started again! I loved seeing your paintings and pastels! hugs, Nicky

I need to get cleaning. That is a sure sign of spring when that urge hits.

Swiffer isn’t making those pads as well as they used to, are they!?! hahahaha One pad use to clean ALL the dust we had left in a room hehehehe. But this is a day for walking and not cleaning so off I go. Be well and great idea on the 3 statements!!!…dan

I like the way the snow looks – but over here there’s the novelty value too. 🙂
