Class Today

Although I didn’t do particularly well in art today, I am glad to be back. The class is small {only five of us and one was absent today} In  that small group there is one objectionable know-it-all, but the others are great! There is no doubt that being in a group sparks the creative element in me. The objectionable know-it-all is a retired lady who came originally from Germany many years ago. But it is not that that makes her objectionable. Pam asked me why I was taking Italian and right in the middle of me talking to Pam, Inga interruped and said loudly, "Who is your teacher?" So, I gave her a look and told her the name of my Italian tutor. Pam was then discussing with me the two pastels studies I was trying {not very successfuly, I may say} and right in the middle of this, Inga again said loudly, "Where are you taking these classes!" She then proceeded to tell us all that she spoke two languages and was teaching herself Italian! Bah!

My new desk should arrive tomorrow. Fred will put it together for me {although possibly not tomorrow!} I have high hopes that my new print rack will arrive tomorrow too. I can put that one together myself. All it needs are the castors attached! I got email from Amazon saying the book they are sending me to replace the one they got wrong will be here before October 3rd which was the date they gave me. This is a book I need for Italian and I really hope that it arrives tomorrow, too! And today I have a feeling of relief because I worked pretty well the whole weekend making sure my Italian homework was up-to-date so no panicking about getting work done! This evening I may make a start on the homework for Thursday. I don’t have to but if I start it, I won’t have so much to do on Wednesday. Oh, and at the last class, Nichole {instructor} broke it to us that  one thing we all have to do some time in the not-so-distant future is to give an oral report on our assigned region to the class! Oopla! I actually am quite good at oral reports in English, but in Italian…? Oh, well, all I can do is what I can do…

Until later….

Hi, I just came across your diary, and I see you used to be a teacher – I’m just starting my teaching career so I’m sure you know all I have ahead of me. Great diary you have here! Oh and if that is your real age then you are looking really good! Take care, Lynsey

Inga sounds like she is used to being the center of attention! An oral report in Italian??? That sounds pretty scary to me, but I’m sure you’ll do great!!! I’ve seen your pastels and I don’t believe for one minute that you are having troubles! You are too talented!!!

You sure do get a lot of random noters! (Just an observance.) Oooo, that know-it-all even gets on MY nerves. LOL! Same thing happened to me last week. I was talking to the teacher after class and some girl just waltzed in and started talking to him like I wasn’t even there. I wanted to smack her! LOL! I’ll bet you give the best oral report in your Italian class!

Ahhh! Public speaking! Ahhh! LOL!

Sounds like Inga does need some of that tape for her mouth. I hear duct tape will do the trick! Looking for all sorts of goodies tomorrow! I hope everything comes! I love me some Amazon!!! BTW, RYN: How did I know it was English!?! *L*

Inga sounds lonely but irratating.

I chuckled about Inga. I hate to stereotype people, but she is soooo much like the Germans I have known. (I do wanna add, though, that I LOVE German people, and some of my best friends have been German. Maybe it is their brusqueness that I like?? though I certainly don’t like it when anyone else is brusque!) I hope your desk AND print rack arrive tomorrow, and here’s wishing you a lovely evening.hugs, Weesprite

You’re my hero. Go, Patrisha, go!

Good luck with the Italian. Are you going to Italy when you’re done?

Why does there always have to be an Inga, no matter what size the group is? I’m sure you will do just fine on your oral report in Italian! You go girl!! LOL

I love the sound of Italian. I wish I could trill those Rs

RYN: I teach primary age children. The class I will start teaching in October are 7 and 8 year olds, so a bit younger than the children you taught! So, which subject did you teach? How long have you lived in America?

Yikes I remember when I had to do an oral report in French. I was so nervous!

I think it’s great that you are doing all of these things to learn more and open your mind. Inga sounds like a piece of work!

It would seem there is a law that says one of those kinds of students have to inhabit every class. They are so trying.

You are being too polite to Inga (although I would have answered her questions too). Her rudeness and interruptions ought to be addressed to her.
