Breadmaker Problems
I slept until 10 this morning but that was not really late since I went to bed at 3 am!
So far this morning I have made a loaf, washed the dishes, vacuumed the floor and taken out the trash. I haven’t been for a walk yet but I will do this next.
I put all the ingredients in the bread machine and turned it on and it started clattering and stopping the kneading briefly. Now, I have been looking at new ones and that was all I needed to order another one from Amazon. The one I ordered can be seen at this link if it works!http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004R93S/ref=pd_wt_1/104-1478110-5963934?coliid=I3G6OU0ZWWTVCU
Anyway, what I like about this new machine {besides the facts that Consumer Reports really likes it and that it is a very reasonable price }is that it can be stopped and started again without going all the way back to the beginning which the one I have now can’t do. When it started making funny noises this morning, I did stop it because I thought it was going to bang its way off the counter top. I started it again and, of course, it went right back to the beginning again. This probably won’t cause two many problems because it was not too far into the first knead. After a while, it started working properly so I really don’t know what the problem was. The only bad part about getting a new one is that I have to learn its idiocyncracies. It took me quite a while before I learned that this machine does better when the liquid is reduced by a tablespoon! When I am comfortable with the new one, I will put the old one on Freecycle.
Fred and his friend Bill are watching the Vermont LadyCats play basketball on TV. I am going to finish here and then go for a walk. After my walk, I am going to watch a DVD on my laptop in the bedroom. Later this evening, we are going to take Bill out for a meal. He has just had his 62nd birthday. He and Fred used to both work at IBM and for a while until he got his own place, Fred lived with Bill when he left his marriage. Bill is a very nice guy and his faults are minor ones! He is probably the only friend Fred has held onto from the time he worked at IBM.
Until later…
read the reviews on the new breadmaker. interesting, to say the least. if i made bread as often as you do, i’d make sure i had a backup breadmaker! enjoy your dinner out with bill and fred. where are you going? take care,

I’d send my breadmaker over to you, but I actually used it now! LOL 🙂

That bread machine looks a lot like mine, only newer of course. You really shouldn’t have to change the recipe because the moisture balance is usually more due to elevation and humidity than anything else, but I suppose if the heating element is different, it might change how high it rises or something.

I just made some bread this afternoon. My dad had bought me back some walnut flour from a trip to france, and so I made some rolls, and a loaf. It’s really nutty (I cut it with white flour), and just fluffy enough. A burnt too though, since I forgot it was in the oven. That’s probably the best aspect to breadmakers – it remembers for you!

warm bread with butter would be good right about now.

This is an impressive looking machine. (Also spelling the word idiocyncracies! A spell check word for me for sure.) I love my bread machine. I usually check after it first starts to make sure the amount of liquid is right so I can adjust it if needed at the beginning. Weird noises are very unsettling in any machine. Will be looking forward hearing your opinion of the new machine.

Our microwave has been making weird noises for the past couple of months. It is still working, though. I’ll check out the link for your new breadmaker.
