Book

This is a very interesting idea. Anyone want to do a project like this with me?  It neededn’t necessarily be art. it could just be an exchange of ideas…

When I was teaching, I once had a seventh grade student who was leaving me notes every day. So, I got a notebook and wrote the answer to her last note in it and then wrote, "Anything else you want or need to ask me, put it in here, put the book on my desk and I will answer in here."

It started with her asking me questions about her writing {which is what I was teaching} but gradually evolved into a discussion between us. I remember we discussed the difference between being an atheist and an agnostic and, among many other things, how colors are perceived by individuals—I mean how do you know the red I see is the same red you see…

Until later….

I love this. I’m going to go back to look some more, though I did look at the first six pages and read their comments. One thought I just had is that the postage cost must have been steep, especially as the project went on and the book got heavier. Am I right that there are four participants in the one book? (Oliver and Rory Jeffers, Duke Riley and Mac Premo) Or are they separate books? I’d love to do this but don’t know if I could do it in a timely fashion, e.g. every single week to the day.

sounds like a good idea!

Interesting concept. I’d love to do it if I had time, but you know I don’t. I didn’t look at it in depth, but I’m not really sure what they did. I thought that they were supposed to build from the concept of the previous artist, but a lot of them looked like they had NOTHING in common, so I guess I don’t understand it. Interesting question about colors. I know that people don’t see things the same way, especially between men and women. My husband sells men’s suits and when guys come in with their wives, it’s obvious that they aren’t seeing the same things. My son is color blind. Heaven only knows what HE sees.

Wow, that’s a great book. Flibberty-jibbet started something like this a few years back, and I think the book got lost in the mail at some point. Kind of sad. I think it’d be a great thing to do.

although i’m not an artist, i’ve always wanted to do a project like this. check this out as well: http://www.1001journals.com/ what a wonderful idea to answer that student’s questions in a notebook. what a treasure that must have been.

I absolutely love this idea… although I am not an artist per se. 🙂 I love the idea though.

Exactly!!! I ask that all the time people look at me like I’ve got 2 heads…

I wish I had a teacher like you. I always wanted a teacher I could talk to, who would talk back. That girl was very lucky to have you, I think.

I would love to do something like this….how amazing! The pages were very interesting how they reflected each other’s ideas.

I’m game but I think weekly would be pushing it, given postal time. I could do a two week turn around? Count me in please. Do you want to do this with 4 individuals like the original or what do you have in mind? Let me know. wanderlust_ak@yahoo.com just make sure to put a message in the subject line so I know it’s from you. I delete messages I don’t know who they are from. Thanks
