Assorted Miscellania
Today I finished watching "Brideshead Revisited" It turned into one of those things that I only watched one episode at a time because I didn’t want it to end. Since, in my experience, the book is always better than the movie, I am really looking forward to getting it come drifting through the ether to my Kindle in December.
I have just sneezed three times in succession and I can feel another one or two hovering! Hope this doesn’t mean I am coming down with something. It has gotten quite chilly here and has rained for several days in succession which is not cheerful at all. I am wearing a red sweatshirt. Red always cheers me up.
These days I always seem to have misplaced something and it is usually in the kitchen! However, I did find my red colander, I found the missing cheese grater and now I am trying to track down the salad spinner! It is not a huge one but it isn’t exactly tiny, either. I used it a couple of days ago and would have been willing to bet money I put it back where it belongs, but it isn’t there…. Tomorrow or the next day I will find it somewhere really obvious and wonder why I didn’t see it before.
The frozen food man came yesterday and brought me a catalog of food I can order if I want to. I am pretty well only ordering the strawberry bars these days because I am sticking to my cooking for myself at least twice a week routine. This is the time of year when Fred always made a pumpkin pie when he was in good health and as he got less able to do it, he always ordered a pumpkin pie from the frozen food man. I am not going to do that because a whole pie is too much for one person, and I actually don’t like pumpkin all that much. I don’t hate it but it is not my pie of first choice. {That would be apple}
I just heard Bryan, the man upstairs run down his stairs and the stairs to the basement to get his clothes out of the washer and drier. Then he ran up both flights of stairs to take them into his apartment! It is nice to be young and to be able to tackle stairs that way. He is a nice obliging person and I have no complaints at all about him.
Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone. ~Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers)
“As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good, I was actually being re-directed to something better.” -Steve Maraboli
That spinner is probably in the dishwasher. That would be my guess. Anybody placing odds? I hope you’re not getting a cold!

I hope that you’re not getting a cold either. I am constantly tempted by the frozen food offerings. But I know that the salt content is bad for me, and it is never really as good as my own cooking.

I bet if I had stairs in my house, I’d be in better shape! but since I’m not in better shape….I’m glad I don’t have stairs! :o) !! ryn: I love Queen Anne’s Lace too! And it’s a wildflower, no matter how many people want to call it a weed. ;o) hugs, Nicky

only the young can run up and down those stairs! i remember being able to do that but, it’s been a while. pumpkin isn’t my favorite. i like cherry best or pecan pie. i do hope you aren’t coming down with some sort of something. hope you find the salad spinner soon. take care,

I’d look at the back of a very high cabinet. It isn’t there, but when you are looking you will be reminded of what is there AND you’ll remember where the spinner is.

To have that energy/ambition to run up and down stairs again!! I try to stay away from prepared foods… when you look at the ingredients listed it gets downright scary…whenever I start to get stuffed up I get out the nettie pot and that seems to clear me up…..
