Art, Music & Stuff

  • Well, art today was OK but nothing amazing. The people who were missing last week came today. I much prefer the smaller group. What we are doing I would classify as craft rather than art and I am not a crafty person, I find it too fiddly. What we did was to make a background of torn tissue paper and then cut shapes out of foam board? and embellish. Well, ok, but I can’t see myself ever doing this for myself by choice. But, it could be a collage technique and so, I did it. Since half the class missed a lesson, Teresa has added an extra day so we’ve got three more meetings instead of two! Which is a bonus for those of us who haven’t missed one at all.
  • My mentor came by to talk to Teresa and to apologize to me. She was in Texas {which I knew} and when she came back on Wednesday it was to find her basement flooded! I told her no problem and to take her time. My time is pretty well all free so I can fit whatever is convenient to her.
  • I recently bought  a download of the album "Raising Sand’ with Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. {It is interesting that his name comes before hers where this is listed.} I have always loved "Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us" which I picked up as a single. Then an ODer put "Please Read the Letter" in one of her entries and I loved it. So, I sampled on ITunes and bought the whole album…  Go here to hear "Sister Rosetta Goes before Us." Here you can see  and see "Please Read the Letter."
  • Yesterday I went for a massage and sniffled my way through about half of it. I was giving myself a Gigantic Pity Party and this, of course, stuffed up my nose and gave me a bad case of turtle neck. {Shoulders up around ears!} Although All the work Beth did on my shoulders was wasted, I did get my priorities sorted out {mentally, anyway!}

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people

to know why I look this way. I’ve traveled a long way and some of the

roads weren’t paved.

I’m sorry you had a pity party and hope you’re feeling much better now. I was surprised that Alison Krauss and Robert Plant got together but it certainly resulted in some great music! I have always liked her.

It doesn’t sound like the massage was wasted. It just worked a different muscle or two more than usual 🙂

Sometimes we’re entitled to have our pity parties, methinks. I have been pitying myself right much over how sore I have gotten from my relatively small bit of garden work! If I had money for a massage right NOW, this would be a good time to call up my friend who’s a massage therapist….but it would probably really hurt! Just thinking of it hurts! hugs, Nicky

I love that whole album. I think the fortune teller song is my very favorite.
