Arrrgh! Edit & More Edit.

EDIT YET AGAIN: And now I am feeling guilty because he just came for our car keys and he is going to move them out on the street to shovel the drive. And, in order to move them out, he will have to remove some of the snow from them….EDIT: The landlord sent me email telling me that the problem was that the water bill was being overestimated rather than the meters being read and that he was taking care of it.

I sent him email back thanking him for letting me know and also telling him my concerns about the trash. I told him that last time I checked {before the Big Snow} there was no room in the non-recycleables can and that I had put a bag on the top for that reason. I also told him there was yet another bag on our deck which was there because I couldn’t get out to the cans because of the snow. I suggested he might want to get a couple more cans since he couldn’t seem to get the trash out in a timely manner… Well, now, I actually DIDN’T write the bit about the timely manner but I sure am thinking it. I also mentioned I had a box of paper I am planning on recyling plus another paper bag of paper, AND in the kirchen I was filling a bag with plastic and glass stuff to go out.  And, of course there will be boxes and packing material after Christmas…

Apart from him not getting the cans emptied, he actually threw away one of the cans when he took over the house. Admittedly there was a hole in it but Mike {previous landlord} just put a huge plastic liner in it and all was well. So, we shall see.
I have done quite a lot today. I cleaned the Kitchen including top surfaces, the outside of the cabinets and the floor. I cleaned the bathroom including the floor, the toilet and the vanity. I cleaned the floor in our bedroom. Tomorrow I plan on doing the dining and living room floors.

Tomorrow also we will be without gas for a while. Our meter is being replaced and the gas will be turned off. Then someone who knows what they are doing will go down to the basement and relight the pilot light we have been told.and, with luck, we will have heat again. Tomorrow is the December book club meeting. I probably won’t go. The roads are clear but the snow is piled up in HUGE piles so that in order to see if anyone is coming before making a turn, one has to gingerly ease out into the traffic. It will be dark. So, no…

I am really pissed off with our landlord. We {and he} got a notice that the water will be turned off on the 20th because he hasn’t paid the bill. I am assuming he will do something today or tomorrow about this. He has only two days. Adding this to the constant aggravation of no place to put the trash and no way to get to the bins right now until he shovels the snow to make a path and you can see why he is not my favorite person at this moment.

The work in cleaning up and throwing out of stuff in my workroom is proceeding slowly. But it is proceeding… I have this idea for some art. I am in the thinking-it-out stage at the moment.

I feel for you if your water gets cut off. Seems your landlord has been kind of slacking, huh?

That landlord sounds like a royal PITA. I dreamed last night you were a portrait artist in France, and I stopped with Merlin to watch you paint. You said, “I’d like to do a portrait.” When I tried to sit down you said, “no, no, not you… your beautiful dog!” 🙂

Don’t feel guilty. Sounds like he’s the typical male (I know, there are exceptions!) who doesn’t do anything until he absolutely HAS to, then acts all put out because he forced somebody to nag him. GRRRR! Go out and throw snowballs at him. hee hee hee…. Tell him there’s a national snowball throwing competition coming up and you need the practice.

Your landlord sounds like he procrastinates and then gets in hot water from his procrastination. It won’t hurt him to remove some snow for you all. You’ve been putting up with a lot more than that! I’m glad he’s taking care of things now for you. (((Hugs))) and stay warm!

He probably felt bad himself for letting things get so behind. It’s his way of making up for it 🙂

I’m sorry you’re having to deal with all these frustrations.

“the snow is piled up in HUGE piles so that in order to see if anyone is coming before making a turn, one has to gingerly ease out into the traffic. It will be dark. So, no…” Oh boy, I’m familiar with this dilemma and am in favor of the no travel zone too…especially at night. I am sorry that you are having such trouble with your shit I mean jerk of a landlord. It just dumbfounds me that someone in that position can be so damned irresponsible! Yikes! Your idea of some art…well it’s got me wondering what you’ll be creating?!! I’m sending you some good vibes that things get straightened out quickly with your landlord and your home will be your paradise again!

What does Ancora Imparo mean? (I haven’t googled it yet)

Well, everything is falling apart for the landlord. I wonder why? Oh, I know – you can only put stuff off for so long and then, boom! It all comes crashing down. I have no room to talk. ::blushing:: Wow, you got a lot done using your do something-rest-do something more method.

EEP! Hope this all gets worked out.

Don’t feel guilty! Just trying to translate the language! I presume that cans are bins! The council empties our blue bin (recylable paper, tin cans etc) once a fortnight and the grey bin which is everything else once a fortnight. The brown bin which contains garden refuse just gets emptied in the Summer months. We just have to wheel the bins to the pavement in the front of the house and putthem in the back garden when they’ve been emptied.

How well I remember navigating the roads with the huge snowbanks. Even worse trying to shovel the sidewalks and no place to put the snow the snowbanks would be so high….
