And Today…*
- Because I said I would and because I am basically a nice person, I am giving Virgin Mobile until the 11th of this month which is 15 working days from the day they told me it would be between "1-15 days" to fix this problem. After that, I think it is probably unlikely they or I will be on speaking terms ever again. It is really weird. Occasionally I can get my voice mail messages. Once in a while, I am able to make a local call. but mostly I am being told either I am "not authorized to make the call" or the number I am calling is incorrect!
- Using the land line I called my doctor and left her a message which, I hope, explained why I hadn’t got in touch with her. I also got the address and phone number of the urologist and the physical therapy place. I called the urologist and what with one thing and another, the person I was talking to asked if she could call me back. I lay down on the bed to read and when I woke, two hours later, I was holding the phone! So maybe she called but I have no recollection of anything that was said. I will call her back tomorrow.
- Today I found the bookcase shelves! They were under a pile of books. I put them into place and tomorrow I will put things on the shelves. BTW, I was able to get the little do-hickies the shelves rest on from Amazon! When Fred was really ill we were talking about getting him a hospital bed and he joked maybe we could get one from Amazon. I laughed but checked it out, and, yes, they sell them!
- For some reason I cannot now remember, I bought an acorn squash about two days ago. I have NO idea how too cook it! Any suggestions? Any easy recipes?
- Now the shelves are in place, I am feeling much better about what has to be done. I HAVE found my huge flashlight but there is still no sign of the big red tea caddy. I have a plastic tote and three small boxes still to open. I am pretty sure the plastic tote is acrylic paints and the other boxes are marked office or art.
I would still call Virgin Mobile sooner b/c they are charging you and if you call you may get someone that will help you. I wouldn’t feel easy about just sitting and waiting while the money meter is running. I had the same problem with Directv and I worked on it for 3 months and finally one day a girl helped me and canceled it. All the other girls said they couldn’t do anything so I kept calling and it paid off. I didn’t like having that hanging over my head. They did cancel the over due amount b/c I told them I only used it for 2 weeks and had switched back to AT&T. I’m nice but I’m also very persistent.

You are being soooo much nicer to Virgin Mobile than I would be under the circumstances! I’d be madder than a hornet! :oO !! The acorn squash, you can cut into chunks and simmer in water (with the rind on). When it’s tender, drain it and after it cools enough to handle, you can easily remove the rind. Then mash it with seasonings that you like. Or you can halve or quarter it and brush withbutter and bake it. hugs, Nicky

Finding the bookshelves will really help you get things in place. Amazon sells hospital beds. Who knew?

I don’t have Niky’s patience — poke holes in the squash. Put it in a safe dish covered with a paper towel. Zap it in the microwave for four minutes. Cut it in half, brush with butter, salt. If it is not soft inside, zap it for a couple more minutes.

I slice my acorn squash in half and place them on a cookie tray (shave the bottom if it won’t sit flat enough). Sprinkle on butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg and throw those puppies in the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes. When they’re tender and bubbly..they’re ready to eat!

Acorn squash is hard, right? I tend to poke holes in squash with a fork, cook it for about an hour in a pan of water in the oven at about 350 degrees. Then, I wait until it cools to cut it up. I can cook it longer, remove rinds and seeds at that point, too, without feeling like an out of control ax murder trying to get it ready. We don’t have Virgin Mobile here….we do see their commercials. The commercials say that you are making a wonderful choice. ;o)

Ha, ha! Considering your luck at being sure of what’s in any given box, I’d at least take a peek at what’s inside that tote!

RE: The Squash – I go along with the way Free At Last suggests. We scoop out the seeds and their string like filaments. Rather than shaving the rind I sometimes stick wood toothpicks into the rind to level them on the cookie sheet. Sort of looks like the lower stage of the Lunar Landing Module. 🙂 – – – –

Virgin mobile is a joke, aren’t they? Sheesh….

I can be of no assistance when it comes to the squash, but it will be helpful in the future. I think you should call up Virgin Mobile and tell them that this issue with the phone has been beyond an inconvenience, especially when you move somewhere new and had no access to a phone for a period of time.

You can buy ANYTHING on Amazon… and you’re being way way too tolerant with the phone company. You need to yell at them every day until they get it fixed or cancelled – it’s just not good enough. You’re paying them real money and getting nothing in return. 🙁 (huggles)

You can simply roast the squash in the oven! You can try to cut it open first and put some butter or oil on it, or roast it whole and cut in half after. Very simple!

So glad you finally found those shelves!!! When I went home the other day the mattress pad was there. Our neighbor has been picking our mail up for us so she brought it over to me. Can’t wait to put it on the bed as I’m like you, I think the furriness of it will feel good! Thank you so much Patrisha!!! Hugs,M

RYN: That’s what I’m hoping, the more I drive the less anxious I’ll feel about it. I doubt I’ll ever LIKE it but it’d be nice if I wasn’t in a full state of panic every time I get behind the wheel.

ryn: my son in law bought a jar of local honey. it was a big jar. i guess about quart size. but, oh, my gosh! it cost $30 for that jar. i’ve also heard that local honey daily is good for preventing allergies. okay, today is the 12th of april… 15 days… i’m guessing you’re gearing up to call virgin mobile? i’ve been without my virgin mobile phone for 5 days now. good thing i get it free with 250 free minutes. if it ever works again i will be able to get 250 free texts per month as well. good luck getting your service back. it’s been too long and you’ve been more than patient. take care.
