And Today…

I packed up the modem and filled out the label that Verizon sent me. Then I headed out to the appointment with the doctor.

Two good things happened there. First, the LPN who was filling out the paperwork asked, "How old are you?" I said, "Seventy-three." She said, "Are you SURE?" and then realized what she had said, laughed, apologized and said I certainly didn’t look it! The second nice event was when she took me to the measuring device on the wall and told me I was 5 ft 9 in. Now, *I* was under the impression that I was 5 ft 8 in., which depressed me rather because I used to be 5 ft 10 and a half inches. I know one loses some height with age but I really didn’t like the idea that I had lost so much. But now, I have an inch of it back! She also checked my heart with an encephalograph machine.

Then the nice resident I have now, Dr. Z, came in and asked me lots of questions, looked at the encephalogram and told me he had to go and ask my primary if I needed a stress test. He assured me that everything looked normal but considering my age and the fact I got a bit breathless going up two flights of stairs… Well, of course, that, I am sure is because I haven’t walked more than minimally for 6 months. Anyway, Dr. Z came back with the primary, Dr. P., {"Call me Mark!"} and we all had a lovely chat! The bottom line is that I am low risk for heart problems and don’t need to take a stress test. Dr. P. said that low risk is the best they can say because they can’t say No Risk!. I laughed and told him that 50 years ago, my older son had "An apparently normal male child" written on his paperwork in the hospital. This amuses me to this day and I still tease him about the fact that he is only "apparently" normal! Oh, and I also got my blood pressure medication and the Nortriptylene prescriptions redone so I can get two months at a time. I want to get started on this regime so that if the insurance company are going to give me any problem with this, it will be all sorted out before I go to Italy.

Next, I drove out to the Blue Mall and went to UPS to deliver my package to  Verizon. The young man behind the counter said authoritively, "You’ll want a receipt for that." I looked at him and he told me that  he had sent a modem back to Verizon who had then tried to charge him for it until he produced his receipt! I thanked him and got a receipt. I crossed the road to the University Mall and went ot SBarro’s whereI got myself a slice of vegetarian mushroom pizza. After I had eaten, I  headed to the eye doctors in hopes of getting an appointment today. No luck, so I got the first one at 9:30 am tomorrow. I have been noticing this last couple of weeks that the glasses I have now have not been correcting my astigmatism the way they used to.

After that I headed to my car. And this is where I thought I had lost my car keys. I usually try to put them in a pocket of whatever I am wearing because I get irritated when they slither to the bottom of my purse. I hadn’t put them in my jeans’ pockets this time because I had my phone in one pocket and my mini IPod shuffle in the other. But even though I took everything out of my purse, there was no sign of them. So, I called Fred and told him where the spare car key was and he said he would be out there in about 15 minutes. Once I had called him, I stopped panicking and started thinking. I KNEW I had put them in the purse, because I had a distinct memory of saying to myself, "OK, I must remember I have put them here!" I knew I hadn’t dropped them because I would have heard that. So, I gently shook the purse, and heard them in there. There was a tiny hole in the corner of the lining and they had slipped through there.

Quickly, I called home again and fortunately caught Fred before he headed out the door!

So, all in all, a pretty good morning with only one slight setback.

I’ve lost my keys when they were right in my backpack, just refusing to surface!! It’s great that your doctor’s appointment went so well! I LOVED the nurse asking if you were sure you’re 73! And now, after considering “apparently normal” boys, I cannot decide whether my son is apparently normal or not! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

You got a lot accompished today. I agree that you are very young looking, and acting.

glad to hear that things are proceding smoothly enough!

Oh, I hate when purses get that small hole. Time to get out the duct tape! LOL Sounds like a wonderfully productive morning, and I’m so glad that all those people where so complimentary and helpful to you! What a great day.

*huggs* your “apparantly normal male child” came from an extraordinary mommy!

Wow! You deserve a break today!!!! Busy, busy, busy! I agree with your Dr’s nurse. You DON’T look 73. That vegetarian pizza sounds good! Love to you! ~M

I have lost my keys while HOLDING them, and I am 31!!!

ryn: I can’t imagine how the teacher will feel when she is told the student was not suspended for 365 days… that there is basically just a slap on the wrist happening. There’s no way that she’ll be able to feel supported by the administration this way… not to mention how all the other teachers will feel knowing that kids are just allowed to do things so severe. *shakes head* All I can say is that the student should be glad that she didn’t do this to me. Because not only would she be sporting some serious injury, not to mention a pair of handcuffs to wear to the hospital.

I really think that Verizon has been going down hill. My Mom works for their wireless division, and she has some pretty depressing stories about the company.

I used to always mislay my keys, all the time, and it was maddening. The bag I carry now has a little zippered pocket with a snap inside to hold the keys, and it is the only thing that can fit in the pocket. So that has made my life easier. Very glad to hear that the meetings with the doctors went so well!

I’ve lost me keys in that hole that always appears in the lining too. Sounds like you had a very busy but productive day. Hugs, M

Glad the dr visit went well… I hate the self-frisking that I have to do when in serch for the keys.

You are tall like me! You certainly seem in good health. I hope it continues!

June 5, 2007

I like the “apparently normal” remark. I hope you have it in writing.

That was quite the busy day for you, eh? Heck…I get breathless walking up and down the stairs and I”m only 41…! LOL!

June 5, 2007

I really enjoy reading about all your industry. Yay for not needing a stress test, too. How thrilling to be told you look so young! Whee!

June 5, 2007

goodness i call that a very productive day!

RYN: You may send a full-page handwriting sample to: amethystrune@gmail.com I will study it, to the best of my ability, and email you back my analysis when I have the time. I estimate that it will take me up to a week, by the time I am ready to email you back. I am looking forward to this, myself, as I have never offered this before.

I love being 5’10”. Being tall is great!
