And Today?

So, here it is the end of a day and I need to make a list to find out what on earth  I have done with this day:

  • started studying my principles of design. There are nine. When Fred tested me, I got three totally correct, messed two up slightly and drew a total blank in four. Not too bad for the first time through.
  • washed the dishes from last night…
  • put the ingredients for two loaves in the bread machine during the course of the day One was a white loaf  and the other one was a caraway seed and cheese one. The second one didn’t rise completely. I haven’t tasted it yet but it smells good. {Just cut and toasted a slice and it is good.}
  • Fred suggested we go out to eat tonight, but since I wasn’t too enthusiastic, he kindly fixed the evening meal
  • took several bags of trash down to the barrels. We have seen ants and and don’t want to encourage them.
  • went for one 30 minute walk
  • tidied up my art supplies and semi-organized them so I can find everything I need easily.
  • played a couple of Bookworm Deluxe games.
  • finished what I was reading for the book club —I Am No One You Know which is a collection of short stories by Joyce Carol Oates

After Fred tested me this morning on what I had been studying, I started thinking about mistakes. I think very differently about mistakes these days than I used to think. When I missed four this morning, I did not call myself stupid nor put myself down the way I used to do. Instead I immediately started rewriting the ones I had missed so I could learn them. I really wish I could say what happened and why or when it happened  but my life is much more pleasant now I am no longer down on myself the way I used to be. I guess there is something to be said for getting older, right?

Tomorrow:

  • continue with learning the principles of design
  • start planning my ellipses still life–maybe start  with  a sketch or two? The drawing is supposed to be done in charcoal or pencil. I was planning pencil but I had such a good experience with charcoal in class, I may try that again.
  • a little housecleaning, perhaps? Dishes definitely, vacuuming maybe?
  • at least one walk and I think it may be nice enough in the morning to get my bike out…

Until later..

Oh, I want to buy a bike. A beach cruiser, none of that fancy crap and 12 speed stuff for me. Sounds like you had a good day and tomorrow looks good too.

*huggs* I know how you feel about mistakes, I would always beat myself up over them, I am not out of the woods on that one yet.

It’s amazing the difference when you start looking at things differently – every experience is a learning one to me. I remember my father asking me if I knew how to do something (can’t remember what now) & when I said “No” he said “Well you should at your age” & years later I thought that was really stupid with all due respect – if no-one tells you how to do something or you’ve never tried – no

matter what age you are you’re just not gonna know! Until you try it for yourself. And you’re never too old to learn!

i see you are continuing with your usual healthy life style.

i’m doing my best to keep blake from thinking he’s dumb or stupid if he makes a mistake at school. his parents fuss for what he gets wrong, i praise for what he does right. and he mostly does it all right. take care,
