An Entry Mostly About Moving
We drove—ummm, I drove and Fred navigated–to the UHaul place and bought $90 –25 smalls and 20 mediums–worth of boxes. {Yes, I will wait while you pick yourself up off the floor. }
It was an exercise in organization putting all of these into the back of my little Kia. Actually, everything got stuffed in quite well once the binding was taken of the smaller boxes and they were put on the folded-down back seats individually. When we got home, I passed them into Fred where he sat on the stairs and he stacked them up in the hall by the stairs so that people could still get by. {I had to move my bicycle from the hall to the shed in the back I hate having it there because I have to disentangle it from the lawnmower if I want it. Of course, that affects Mike more than me since he uses the mower more than I have used my bike this year! And, hey, another good thing about moving is that we can keep my bike in the porch area inside once we move! } We also managed to get Hugo –Fred’s walker– into the hall, too. The larger boxes will remain in my car until we need them. They were hard to get into the car but once the binding that holds the pack together is taken off, they can be extracted individually pretty easily.
When I have finished here, I will move things around on the table so that there is enough room for Fred and me and Bryce to sit at the table for the 7 pm meeting. I still need to locate the old lease but I am pretty sure I know where it is.
- a new season of Project Runway starts on Bravo on Wednesday. I am a Project Runway fan.
- we did not get to the recyling place today. I may try going out there tomorrow morning or we can go out there tomorrow together.
- my BIL called me from England. We got back just in time to take the call.
- it is hot. I have spent an hour or so in the air conditioned bedroom and Fred is in there right now taking a nap. He is the King of Power Naps!
- the panini maker I got Fred for Christmas has proven to be a very good buy.
- Fred just got up looking much more chipper.
Until later….
Oh my goodness! I also ADORE Project Runway. The best thing I ever did on moving day was color-code boxes with 8×10 pieces of paper on which I listed everything in the box. Each room got a color, so I knew where to put it right away instead of digging through piles of boxes. Then, I could easily find stuff that I needed even if it wasn’t unpacked yet! Good luck! I hate moving!

Never heard of Project Runaway. Must be on cable. Now for the next week, we will have Adventures in Boxing.

I hope you got their tape too–it is the best packing tape.

Good for YOU~!! Can you give me some ideas for the Panini maker? We got one for Christmas, and it’s still sitting in the box, next to the pasta maker. 🙂 HUGS!

I once spent a bunch of money for boxes and it proved to be a good deal since they are extremely sturdy. The trick is to fold them down and keep them. You will find many uses for them. Mine are all still in my storage unit lo these many years later.

It sounds like you are getting very organized for your move. And I don’t have a panini maker, but I may have to find one and try it out. I wish we got Bravo on cable here, but we don’t. Curse the small town cable companies!

I was NEVER that organized when I moved. Thats probably why I could never find anything either. LOL! Kayce told me that Project Runway starts Wednesday. We are sooo hooked on that show. She designs clothes in pictures and just loves watching the people on the show.

so much going on in everyone’s life while I have been here with K–he’s recovering nicely. Must return to see why you’re moving and to where. Hugo! Wish I’d named mine when I used it in ’03. Maybe, “Priceless”: is so was that!

Do you have a picture of a panini maker? Or is there some place I can go look for one? It sounds very interesting.
