A Very Short Entry*

EDIT: It just occurred to me this morning that the whole world isn’t a "Firefly" fan! I hate reading stuff that uses references I don’t know, so…"Firefly" was a much-loved SF TV show on, I think, Fox. Serenity is the name of the ship. Jayne Cobb is probably my favorite character. He is not too bright and loves his mother and his guns!

You know, it is frightening how much the cost of food has gone up. I bought groceries today and even bagels have gone up in price. Anyway I got it all home and in the house and Fred put it away. And tomorrow the frozen food man will deliver my strawberry frozen bars and I will be happy again! And we have lots of fruit: oranges, bananas, grapes, peaches, plums and apples! I always feel very rich when we have a big supply of fruit.

What I want to do tomorrow:

  1. Clean the floor in the bathroom and kitchen.
  2. Work some more on my three paintings and put the paints I use in a separate box to take to K.’s house for our art session on Thursday.
  3. Maybe try to get out to the Jo-Ann’s shop. This is the one where  I was trying to get to when the GPS died on me! I have decided that this time I will do EXACTLY as the GPS tells me and not think I know better!
  4. Think about a suitable name for the GPS. My Kindles are Firefly and Serenity, and it has just occurred to me that if I was  to continue along this path, the GPS could be Wash if I was using the male voice and Zoe if I was using the female voice! Hmmm! Or, even better–Jayne would do for either voice! I know, I am easily amused!

Hope you got the GPS charged up! I don’t know how I could function now finding the obscure addresses I do without one. Some power outlets in your car will still provide power when the vehicle is turned off. The GPS battery does not last that long on a charge from my experience.

You surely are rich!

My GPS has names already for the various voices, but I use the computer voice because it’s the only one that uses street names instead of “right turn ahead.” I still can’t bring myself to give names to inanimate objects, though.

Like the quote. Going to send it to my kids.

i didn’t think of giving my nook an imaginative name like you name your kindles. if i drove a lot, i’d want a gps device. but, i don’t so i won’t be getting one. angela has one in her cell phone that she uses. cheaper than buying one. take care,

I never watched Firefly when it was on TV, but my ex bought it on DVD a couple of years ago so we watched it. I love it. I wish it had been extended for more than just one season, I would love to keep up with it. I think I heard a rumor awhile back that Nathan Fillion wanted to buy the rights to it and make more episodes, but I’m not sure how far he got with that.

Ah! Wash is a perfect name for the gps. Now if you could just get it to say “I am a leaf on the wind” instead of “Recalculating”…

Ours is a Garmin, so we call it (gar)Mindy.

I can remember when I was a young bride back in the 70’s that $35 a week would buy all the groceries we needed. I could barely feed my birds for that now… Love ya! ~M

I love to have lots of fruit and other produce on hand too, but then I start to worry about getting it all used up before it spoils. Back in the 60’s, I think my husband was giving me $10 a week for groceries! We were NOT eating high on the hog….
