A Very Early Birthday Present!
I didn’t sleep well last night and I was up most of the night. My plan for today was to go back to Wal-Mart and get one of their around-$80 shredders but for a long time this morning I was thinking that i wasn’t going to go. However, I remembered that I have physical therapy tomorrow so although I could do the run to Walmart in the morning, it would be easier to do it today. So, I girded my loins, so to speak and headed out. I was rewarded by finding the same shredder I was looking at yesterday was reduced in price by almost $30!
I also bought floor-cleaning stuff and some plastic trash bags. Oh, and carried back the small bag of wooden clothes pins that I had bought yesterday. The person behind the counter asked why I was returning them and I told her they were too small. She looked at me in amazement and I said, "Yes! I never knew these things came in sizes, either!" I carried an old one from home in my pocket to check before I bought the bag of bigger one! Then I had a toasted onion bagel with cream cheese and a small hot chocolate and headed home.
When I got home, Fred told me that there was a big plastic bag waiting for me that had come in the post. I was too tired to do anything about it but I figured it was a heavy red hoodie I had ordered for myself. However, later when I had rested, I saw the package was from L.L Bean, a place where I never buy unless they are having a fantastic sale or I have a gift certificate. I love their clothes but shudder at their prices. So, imagine my surprise when I opened it and found it was a long down coat bought for me by one of Fred’s daughters as an early birthday present! Very early because my birthday is in May! This is exactly like hers which I had admired when she was visiting last. And she had already sent me a reversible quilted coat from LL Bean for Christmas! This one has a hood with fur {not real fur} around the hood. I LOVE it. I can hardly wait for the Vermont winter to come back again!
Ok, time for me to go watch some mindless television while lying on the bed and doing my exercises..

How sweet. An early present can certainly brighten up the day. L.L. Bean does have ridiculous prices but I like their clothing as well. It is nice to be able to order whatever length I need in slacks.

Oh, that coat sounds like mine! I have a long black down coat with a fur-trimmed hood. I LOVE it! Especially on these days when the temps are in the 20’s and the wind is blowing. You wouldn’t think that a big old hood like that would keep you warm, but it does. And getting that good of a bargain on the shredder is like an extra Christmas present! woot!

An early birthday present of a down coat is WONDERFUL! You can get some good use out of it this winter. That was so sweet of her. I didn’t know that clothes pins came in different sizes either. I learn something every day!

RYN. I’ll maybe look at the Marks and Spencers sale tomorrow. There’s one in Edinburgh but not in Livingston.
