A Thought
Four days ago, I started adding iron to my pills. And for the last two days, I have felt a little more energetic. So, today I googled anemia and found out that one of the symptoms of iron-deficiency anemia is fatigue {which I knew} AND shortness of breath which I didn’t know. I don’t think I have mentioned it lately but I am getting quite worried about my shortness of breath. I came up from the basement this morning with a bag of clean laundry and was panting as if I had run a mile. On the 30th of this month I have a lung test {ordered because of all the coughing that lisinopril caused} so I will make sure that blood is taken and checked for iron. Iron deficiency anemia is much easier to cure than something wrong with my lungs or heart which is what I fear…

I probably need to be checked for iron deficiency too. Thanks for the ‘prompt’. 🙂

I’m glad the iron seems to be helping you. I probably should be taking it as well.

Iron sounds like a good idea. I don’t think I get enough of it.

All that coughing from the Lisinopril (I remember, from having experienced it) is bad enough and exhausting enough to make you feel like there is something really seriously wrong with you. And it takes quite awhile for the effects to be gone. But I bet your lungs are actually ok (just tired from all the coughing!) and I hope that iron supplements are all the help you need! hugs, Nicky

iron deficiency is more common these days than many of us realize. glad you feel better. hugs P

Take Vitamin C (maybe a glass of orange juice ) when you take your iron pill, as Vitamin C helps the body to absorb the iron!

Did you know that craving ice is another symptom? My daughter crunched ice through both of her pregnancies and took iron supplements on top of her pre-natal vitamins.

I did exactly the same a few months ago because I’m always slightly anaemic and was really fatigued and getting dizzy (another symptom I wasn’t aware of) plus breathless. Also found iron tablets helped – they do bung you up though so if you can manage on a low dose go for it because you don’t want another thing to deal with!
