A Real Wednesday’s Entry
If you haven’t popped over to my front page to see my new photo, go right now, please. I will wait for you…
This morning I made another small loaf of the white bread that is the staple of all toast we eat these days, and, again, the top rose and then flattened! It doesn’t hurt the taste of the loaf but it does look rather funny! I think I need to up the yeast a tiny bit more, perhaps… Time for experimentation.
I was supposed to go to tutor Robin again today but she called and said her brain was fried {she has class on Wednesday morning} and could I come another day! I told her Friday would be excellent for me but she said it wasn’t for her since she worked all day. So, I will see her tomorrow. I will go up to the school to read to and with Nick at noon, and then over to Robin’s at 2 pm. I told her that I didn’t mind doing this one time, but I really did NOT want to have the reading and the tutoring both on one day as a general rule, and she said she understood.
I look back to the days I had two jobs for 8 years and wonder now how I did it! I would get up at 4 am, get myself and my kid off to school at 7 am, teach several classes of seventh-graders all day, go home at 3:30 and wait for my baby-sitter to arrive, be at a chain bookstore in a mall in town by 5:30 and drive home at 10 pm. I did this five days a week. I worked three Saturday mornings and every 4th Sunday. When my son was young, he came to work with me on Saturdays and the Sundays I had to work. Looking back on it, I was constantly tired… Well, you do what you have to do.
What else have I done today? I walked on the treadmill for about 17 minutes and watched Sarah Brightman’s DVD "Harem." I am not really a person who likes music videos but I was much taken by this one. {We have it because Fred is a Brightman fan.} And, it is nice music to walk on a treadmill to!
Ok, my usual list so I can feel I haven’t wasted this day:
- made another loaf
- helped Fred clean off 8 inches of snow from his car before he went to the doctor.
- washed dishes
- uploaded pictures to my photo site and linked OD to two of them.
- walked on the treadmill
Tomorrow:
- walk up to the school and read to and with Nick
- walk to Robin’s apartment and tutor her for an hour.
- do the usual around-the-house chores
- get in at least one 30 minute walk.
Until later…
you’re looking great in that new photo. i see you also updated your blurb on your front page as well. i want to get to 145# as well but i have twice as much to lose as you do. oh, well, i’ll just have to work twice as hard!! i want it off by the end of july or the first of august. take care,

It’s amazing! In the new photo you look YEARS younger than you did in the other! I mean it! Did you find the fountain of youth? (hehe, I know what you’re going to say…it’s at the end of your manual treadmill!) I can’t believe you worked so much when you were younger. I whine about my 9 to 5!! *feels silly* I guess the good side of Robin is that she doesn’t flake, so THAT’S good!

WOW, eight inches of snow!! But how wonderful that Fred can now drive to his appointment by himself! I hope Robin can work out on the days you intended for her, after this. Here’s wishing you a lovely evening and a great day tomorrow. hugs, Weesprite

You can put your picture on your entries, too! I wonder what’s with the loaf falling. I think it’s from too much water, but I’m not sure…I’ll have to consult my bread book.

Your former routine was grueling, but you are still very busy!

Your new photo looks great. And at only 17 years old myself, I hope to live a life as fulfilling and active as yours when I am 70. I really, truly, admire you.

Try decreasing the water just a tad….sometimes mine do that, and my book suggested it.

RYN: Thanks!

Will your kids recogonize you when they see you in a couple of weeks?

I need to start experimenting with the bread machine more now. 🙂

RYN: My trainer charges $40 per hour (in 1-hour sessions), but he sells a 10-hour package for $350, so like you, I go for the discount package. I don’t know how other trainers are. I found this guy because he meets clients all the time at my gym and I’ve watched him work with people for a while.

OMG! I noticed the picture first thing when I accessed your diary! I always go to a diarists start page incase, as it is often, they have made several entries I have not yet read. WOW! You look wonderful! ~ Carrie

Wow–looking good in that photo, lady!! RYN–she didn’t go on line herself because she figured someone local would know which area was good and which was not–that’s not something you can judge from a web site, unfortunately.

You look absolutely teriffic!! And you say you are 70? I think you are pulling our leg. Keep up the good work. I will take inspiration from you and aim for that look when I reach 70 (which isn’t such a long reach).

ryn: I love Monk. The only problem about Monk is that it’s on Friday nights. I have trouble watching TV on Friday nights. But fortunately they rerun those episodes all the freaking time so if I miss it Friday I can always pick it up later on in the week or some other time. I have the first season of Monk on DVD. I like it.
