A Quick Comment

It really amused me that so many people were encouraging me to wear socks and walking shoes with a skirt. I honestly wish I could! That skirt was a gorgeous color and made of something soft and suede-like AND was washable! But you have to remember that I was a teacher for many years and teachers have to dress somewhat formally. I am, I guess, stuck in my ways about that.

With a skirt I wear heels {uh-UH! No way! Never again!], boots {I only have sturdy walking-in-the snow boots}, a nice dressy low-heeled shoe {don’t own one} or sandals. Well, I DO  have sandals but I am going in September and October when Lucca, like Vermont, is chilly. Actually, I will be wearing my sandals on the journey for ease of taking off shoes going through lines. {Do they still require that?} But, since I cannot stand cold feet, I will also be wearing thick warm socks that I usually wear in winter with my walking-through-the-snow boots! {I know, I know, NOT a good fashion statement, but I am miserable when my feet are cold…}

I am sitting here drinking coffee and n an hour I am off to physical therapy…

More later, probably.

I can’t stand having cold feet either!! That’s why I almost never go barefoot!! I keep thinking I want to wear skirts occasionally, but so far I haven’t been. I like seeing women in long flowing skirts, no matter what kinda shoes they have on their feet. hugs, Weesprite

Even if you won’t wear that beautiful skirt and jacket yet I would buy it anyway. Other occassions to wear it will come up. Buy it now before it is sold out. About the walking shoes – you could pretend that you are the gym teacher.:) It’s a common practice these days for professional people to wear walking shoes in transit and change into dressier shoes at their destination.

THESE, dahling, are what I wear with skirts: http://www.keenfootwear.com/product_detail.aspx?sku=5342 No socks, comfortable enough to walk in, and look cute as the dickens. Also easy to slip on and off for airport shoe inspections. Would I steer you wrong?

I can vouch for the comfort of Keen shoes. I have a pair of their funky toe protector flipflops. They are a million times more comfortable than my sneakers. I give them a thumbs up too!

Just dress for comfort, hon. You are going through a lot with PT and comfort is a must on that trip. Thinking of you,

I can’t stand to have my feet cold either. I tend to get foot cramps!

Unfortunately, the stinky foot parade is still a very important priority in national security.

Ah cold feet are no fun at all.

Every airport I’ve gone through in the last year or so has required the shoes to be off. All those have been in the U.S., so I can’t vouch for European airports. But my impression has always been that the airports in Europe are even stricter in some ways.

Hey, it’s ITALY! You could probably find a nice pair of low-heeled Itallian dress shoes that would be very nice with that skirt. Can you tell we’re all trying to talk you into it? 😉

I used to be that way Patrisha, but I dress for comfort now (usually). If I was in a foreign country with no one else around that I know or would ever see again, I would DEFINITELY dress for comfort! Buy you a pair of loafers or low heel shoes if you don’t have any. Watch for sales between now and when you go. Shoes are a lot less than your Ipods and will probably last longer, too! 😉

I would definately get the skirt and top too! When I worked at JC Pennys we had to wear dresses and heels. ( this was before they started allowing dress pants) Well, I have really bad heel spurs and the heels and concrete floors were killing my feet. My foot dr. wrote a scrip stating that I HAD to wear sneakers to work. Sneakers and dressy dresses! Yup! That was me! L HUgs, M

You’d look great in army boots and nothing else. So there.

The only stopping you, is you! Be a trendsetter! =) I’m all about comfort.

Some airports require you to remove shoes and others do not. In the US they all do. Oversead it varies. Dress with shoes you can easily remove.
