A New Baby Next Door
Right now, we have lightning flashing and thunder banging away and rain coming down. I caused this. Well, actually it was Martha from next door and me because we watered my flowers this afternoon! It never fails when I water the flowers, it rains!
Martha actually doesn’t live next door. Her two daughters do and Martha stays with the children when A. is at work. And now Martha will have a baby to look after, too because A. produced a 9 pound baby boy at home on Sunday, I think Martha said. This makes four boys and one girl! I like living next to such a nice family. The children are noisy but it is just normal noise, not screaming and temper tantrums. And they are outside playing a lot with both their father and mother and quite often, the children down the road! The next-to-the-youngest {not counting the new baby} came over with his grandmother. So we asked what the new baby’s name was, and Martha said it was not decided but they liked Charlie. At that point, J. said, "Well, *I* like Daniel!" So obviously the kids are included in the discussion of the name.
My objective today was to clean the kitchen and the bathroom. There is just one thing left in the kitchen to do but I didn’t even start on the bathroom. Well, it’s not going anywhere so I’ll get it done tomorrow.
"We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." – Booker T. Washington.
"We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change." — Katherine Hepburn
Maybe you should go down to Oklahoma and Texas and water THEIR flowers. They could use the rain, I hear. 🙂

Come to New Mexico and water OUR flowers – we are desperate for rain!!

We’ve had tons of rain this summer.

I vote for Daniel. Charlie is okay, too. Your neighbors sound like a lively bunch.

ooh, I want you to come and water our flowers, too! Joe waters our garden, but that never makes it rain! ;o) !! I love that you enjoy living next to a family with children. I notice that down here there are a lot of “adult communities” for people over 55 ONLY, and no families with kids. It’s great for those who want that, but I think I’ll always find children entertaining and amusing too. :o)!! hugs, Nicky

Most of the children in my neighborhood have grown up and left home, including my sons, so it’s always great when a young family moves in nearby. I now enjoy listening to my next-door neighbor’s two young children playing on their trampoline. The younger one is always giggling.

I find if I wash my car, it will rain. In the summer, we have rain every day with the thunderstorms that come in the afternoon.

I consider one of my most valuable life lessons to be: “The dirt will still be there when I can get to it.” LOL!

I love the happy noises that children in the neighborhood make….I’m glad I’m not alone in this…

My neighbor is like you, enjoying the kids and their kid noise. This is good, because we’re outside a lot in the summer!

Sounds like a really nice family. 🙂 A friend of mine says that English sleeps with words from other languages indiscriminately, and then things are awkward over breakfast the net morning.
