A Good Sleep and other Stuff

Last night I had a really bad attack of diarrhea right before I went to bed. Fortunately, Immodium AD works really fast and I am fine this morning, but it has reminded me to be sure I have an anti-diarrhea medication in my suitcase … hmmm, actually, in my carry-on bag I think. Incidentally, in Italian, it is la diarrea. I felt so bad last night that I just left the kitchen alone completely. Normally, I load the dishwasher before I go to bed and set it to come on in the wee hours so that it uses hot water not wanted for anything else…

I slept all through the night last night. Well, actually I woke up as usual at 2 am but I was able to go back to sleep again and slept right through until 9 am.  I think this good rest was partly due to the fact that I took a whole Klonopin last night — I usually take half a one and irregularly at that –and also because my mind is relieved because I know I am going to see the doctor on Tuesday.

Physical therapy at the pool was as usual. I went early enough that I got about 20 minutes free before Candace came and during that time, I very gently and somewhat gingerly tried swimming using the breast stroke. I managed one length {it is a small pool at a local hotel} and was very cautious about the "frog kick" part of it. Before this surgery, I had a very strong kick that shot me forward in the water, but I am not going to do as I usually do until I am quite sure this implant is secure in my hip. Anyway, I was pleased that I managed to do a little bit. Candace worked me hard as usual and I was feeling it last night but not this morning. She also told me I could have a session in the pool next week. Originally, it had been cancelled and I had an added session at the physical therapy place with Leslie on Friday, but although Candace is still going on vacation, Leslie is taking the pool spot. I think it has to do with the fact that they started another person on pool therapy yesterday. My thought is that it is not worth it for one but it is for two.  The other person was a very overweight lady and, although I didn’t ask her, judging by the fact that she was doing the same exercises as I was, I think she is a hip-replacement person, too. She came into the pool area using with a walker with wheels…

We have company coming today. I need to do a quick dust-over of the hardwood floors and a good wash of the bathroom and kitchen floors. Then, I will do as my sister always said she did which was to tidy the piles of stuff around! There is no necessity to move them if they are tidy! Most of our "piles" are magazines on the coffee table in the living room!

On with the day!

LOL! I refreshed this page before leaving a note, and you have fixed all the typos. (Just so you’d know.) I’m so tickled with your progress, the swimming and all. I don’t think you’ll have any problems in Italy. So exciting! My house needs a good clean…wanna do mine?

Sounds like you are making such good progress. I’m glad you were able to get a good nights rest last night. That can make all the difference in how one feels. Enjoy your company! HUgs, M

If I were to tidy our piles of stuff, some of ’em still wouldn’t be very tidy…. cuz each one of us has a pile of shoes!!!! hugs, Weesprite

Hope you don’s clean when we visit.

I’m not sure what I think is more courageous: Your trip to Italy or your hip surgery and how you’ve done with your recovery.

yes, my mum tidy’s piles of newspapers and dusts them too I’ve noticed.:-) glad you are making so much progress – you inspire me to swim. Oh, and apparently I have 17 people who opted to join my Italian club so now I’m in hot water and need to actually learn some Italian before Wednesday. I know some basics but would be good with a little more. 🙂 Ah well.

That’s great about the swim you took. My wake up time is usually around 2 a.m. to use the bathroom, which is aggravating since I have to get up for work at 4 a.m.! (((Hugs)))

I have a heap of magazines and what have you to go through and either morgue or throw way. Oy. Very glad to hear that the physical therapy is progressing well.

Ah – it’s fractionaly easier to spell that word in Italian, I see… 😉

: ) *huggs*

You are doing very well. I love swimming. I am guessing therapy in the water must be better than other types. I don’t have piles of magazines but I always try to throw all of Ben’s toys into a bin…while he pulls them out while I’m doing it. I’m afraid one of us will hurt ourself on something. Art is always tripping on them.
