A Good Book & Other Stuff</

We have had company all weekend and they will visit one more time before they leave to go home to MA  today. Saturday, Fred’s son-in-law went back to the hotel right after we had eaten because he was not feeling well. Yesterday Fred’s daughter and granddaughter both felt unwell after we went out to eat. {We ate at a different place so it was not the restaurant} So far, Fred and I don’t seem to have got it. If it is a tummy-bug, it seems to pass quickly because Fred’s SIL seemed to be back to normal on Sunday. And, he very kindly put my computer in the car for me so I can drive it round the corner to the repair place This will  be saving me at least  $20 because they charge $85 an hour for home visit and $65 an hour if you bring it in.

I am VERY seriously thinking about replacing this Win 98 seven years old computer with a desk-top Mac. I absolutely LOVE my little Mac Book which went to Italy with me and which I am using right this minute. If the Win 98 ancient would cost too much to repair and update, I will replace it. In any case, I will probably treat myself to a flat-screen monitor.

We have had cool and showery weather for a few days but the rain seems to be settled in for today. Last night we had thunderstorms. I went out to put a bag of trash out and scuttled back as a huge crack of thunder rolled overhead! When I got into the house, I put candles and matches out on the coffee ta ble and my flashlight on the table beside me all prepared for the power to go out. and so, of course, it didn’t.

Yesterday I finished reading Wire in the Blood by Val MacDermid. {There is a TV series on BBC America based on this book.} It was a real page-turner and I recommend it very highly if you like English police-procedurals.

I wonder if Win 98 is even compatible with the new flat-screens, since they weren’t even invented when it came out. LOL! I’m rooting for a new computer!

I had some kind of bug last Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, I felt wonderful. I hope they’re feeling better today. I think I’d get a new computer rather than pour money into the old one. That’s a lot of money to invest in something that might have other problems shortly. Have fun shopping for it! (((Hugs)))

ryn: Digsby is a messenger client like AIM, only it lets you manage all of your IM accounts in one program. It also lets you keep up with things like MySpace and Facebook through the same program. I’ve really liked it.

I’m glad you and Fred did not get sick! And glad your computer is in the car now so you can take it to the repair place. Seems like we have so many thunderstorms here this summer, they never even come as a surprise! It’s more surprising if we DON’T get one! :o) !! hugs, Weesprite

Thanks for the note! I’ve been getting little sharp pains in my groin. I wonder if that means that it’s spread there? I just can’t wait for the operation to be over now!

And we’re supposed to be going to France on 26th September for ten days. Do you think I’ll be able to go?

I recently purchased a Macbook and I keep thinking, “Why did it take me this long to figure out how amazing Mac is?” (With the exception of the iPod, ha.) I would love a desktop Mac, but it’s not practical (not to mention affordable) right now.
