A Continuation of the Day
If you have not read the last entry which is part one of this saga, it is back <—- that way!
Regular readers may remember that I ordered this purse at Zappos. I loved it when I looked at it online but when it arrived, I found I just didn’t like it. This was mostly because the pocket I had designated for my Kindle was just too small for the Kindle with its cover and padded case. Fortunately, since I had ordered it from Zappos, it wasn’t going to cost me anything to send it back so I put it back in the box with the invoice, printed out a prepaid label and put it on the end of the table to be taken back to the UPS store.
So, after the debacle with the bank {previous entry} I went home, delivered the salad greens and the Doritos and headed out to the UPS store. All went well there and I got a receipt just in case the package got mislaid on the journey back to Zappos. I made my way back to my car and started on my journey back to Burlington because I decided I wanted to look for a new purse in Macy’s. On the way there, I stopped off at a McDonald’s which I mention because I had a Kindle adventure there! I was sitting at a table reading and in the booth behind me were two parents and two children. The little boy was standing looking over the back of his seat at me. He said, "What’s that?" I said, "It’s a Kindle. You read books on it." and to my surprise the dad who was sitting with his back to me turned round and said, "A Kindle? I have been wanting to see one of those!" I said, " You can look at this one after I set a book mark," and handed it over to him. {I was pleased to see he wiped his hands before flipping pages!} Both he and his wife tried it out and I answered lots of questions. So, I think I have probably sold them on getting one. Would that I got a commission because this is not the first time this has happened!
After lunch, I went on to Burlington and parked my car in the free-for-two-hours parking garage and locked my red leather purse in the trunk of my car. I took with me my wallet and the kindle in its padded bag because I wanted to be sure these two fit comfortably into whatever bag I bought. I found my way to the handbag section of Maceys and was helped by a very nice young lady whose name tag said she was Malinda. I noticed her name tag because that was the way my mother-in-law spelled her name, too. Anyway, Malinda found me several cross body bags and she altered the straps for each one so that I could try them on. The one I eventually chose is called Le Sportbag and is horizontally striped in various spring-like colors. I tried the Kindle in its padded bag and the black purse/wallet in the purse and they fit beautifully. So, I went to the desk to pay for it. I opened up the side of the wallet where I keep my credit cards and right there on the top was the missing debit card for the household account! I have absolutely no memory of putting it there. In fact, I would have sworn it could never be there because I kept the two Mastercards in a different section of the wallet from the other cards. At that point, seeing I was going to use a credit card, Malinda offered me Macey’s card and I went with it because I got a20% off the price of the purse, and I could pay it on line.
I made my way back to the car and got a nice surprise when I handed in my ticket for parking to find that it was free! I don’t know why—maybe to entice people to downtown Burlington? Anyway, it was a good day.

trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change
your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to
correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working."

Oh I am laughing, that was a good story! Misplacing thingss, oh dear. My friend legitimately lost his wallet once…cancelled everything, and then the police delivered it to his door! Another time he lost his cell phone…and whoever picked it up called me as I was the last call! He got that back too. At least nothing was really lost….and you got to promote the Kindle! *HUGS*

I feel like a walking Kindle commercial at work. People keep coming up and asking me “what is that thing?” I wouldn’t be shocked if I’ve sold a kindle or two myself 🙂 ♥
