A Bagelpod and New Sandals
About a week ago, I came across this site for the Bagelpod. It is a cute little gadget that cuts bagels in half very neatly. I bought one {the red one} and it arrived today. Now, you may wonder why I needed a device to cut bagels. After all, I have been doing it for quite a while with the bread knife and have only cut myself once! But the thing is that I like onion bagels. The onion bagels that Fred gets for me are delicious and have the onion browned and adhering to the surface of the bagel. And, unfortunately, when I hold the bagel in one hand and cut with the other, the onion gets all over my hand. Which means everything I touch gets onion on it. When I gave the kitchen a good cleaning this morning, I noticed that the toaster had some of this onion stuff on it, too!
So, this clever little gadget arrived this morning and of course, I had to try it. But, unfortunately, I was out of bagels completely. However, the problem was solved when Fred went to get groceries this afternoon and came back with many things including a bag of onion bagels! I am pleased to report that the gadget works very well. Since I wanted to try the gadget, a bagel is what I had for supper with some cheese melted on it. It was delicious!
I did a lot of walking around Walmart this morning looking for this and that and got almost everything on my list. I actually found a pair of size 11 sandals which I bought. They were in the Roman soldier style with a studded-with-metal piece going between the toes, an almost completely flat sole, a support for my heel and two straps around the ankle. I haven’t worn a style like this before but I tried them on and was surprised to find I really liked how I looked. It is very difficult to find a size 11 shoe pretty well anywhere. I looked on line the other night and even in the higher-priced sandals, none of the ones I liked came in my size. It was much easier to find sandals when I wore a 9-and-a-half to a 10. Actually, I am pretty sure my feet haven’t gotten bigger. What has happened is I have stopped cramming my poor feet into "cute" shoes and I now go for comfort. I am one of those people whose left foot is almost a half-size larger than the right foot. In the past, I bought for the right foot and squeezed into the left. Now, I buy for the left and put a heel holder into the right to stop my foot sliding up and down! Priorities change, right?

Right! And I love my $20 Walmart sandals. And the fact that they didn’t cost $60 makes me love them even more.

Wow – you have big feet! No offense intended. I just came back from Walmart with a very nice pair of pedal pushers in size 18. Also got a great yellow t-shirt in size XL. Unfortunately I am only 5″ 4″ tall so I am rather short for my size.

A bagel cutter would be a good gadget for me. Not because I eat onion bagels but because I’m not such a straight cutter. I’m wearing double E width shoes these days for the same reason. Because I am no longer willing to squish my wide feet into shoes that are too narrow for them.

That thing is so funny looking! but looks as if it works wonderfully. I loved the bagel slicers we had in my college’s dining hall. It’d be useful! While my feet are only a size 9, they are wide! It’s hard to find a good shoe. Yay cute sandals! *HUGS*

I’ve never worn uncomfortable shoes…. except for that one pair of heels…. and those went into the trash after one wearing! I love onion bagels and “everything” bagels, but they ARE kinda messy! hugs, Nicky

those gladiator sandals are SO popular! for some reason many people cut themselves while trying to slice bagels. I am not surprised that there are various stands available.

My daughter from the past two years has had points where one foot is a whole shoe size bigger than the other. It is crazy! I always feel bad for people with odd shoe sizes. They really don’t do a lot to accommodate them.

My feet are lots bigger than they used to be. Walking does it I think. And I no longer wear shoes that are too small either. I need lots of room to spread out. ~~~~ Love this background – made me wonder if you were still painting.

I’ve stopped buying any shoes at Walmart since they moved the shoes to the front of the store and took them out of the boxes. I liked the privacy of looking at the shoes and trying them on when they were in the back. ryn: The class you took sounds like one I would like to take. I could work at and do algebraic calculations, but never understood the need until I finally took geometry in college and found how nicely it all fit together. I still have difficulty getting my head around real, irrational, and rational numbers, integers, etc…
