I am not a big fan of Thanksgiving since I did not grow up in this country. {Now, Christmas–THAT is a real  holiday!} When I used to work at Waldenbooks {a chain bookstore} my co-workers seemd to worry a lot that I was spending Thanksgiving alone with no turkey etc. I was constantly getting invitations to their houses to spend Thanksgiving with them. But I actually enjoyed the day alone. My son always went to his father’s family thanksgiving and that was fine with me. I enjoyed having the house {and the computer!} all to myself! I don’t know what Fred and I are doing today. I think we may go to the Chinese restaurant we like but I will be just as happy if we stay home and eat Second-Day Stew {he made a very nice stew last night} or frozen food.

What I really DO have to do today is to make a start on my Italian homework. I have really slacked off this week, mostly because I had my lesson with the fourth graders on my mind. Then after that was over, I relaxed just because it was over! When we were at Costco the other day I bought myself a huge book of five novels by the Bronte sisters. I have just spent several days rereading  Jane Eyre. It is really interesting to reread something one read as an adolescent when one now has a completely different way of thinking.

Anyway, to get back to italian, this is what I have to get done before Tuesday:

  • A raccontino
  • several grammar exercises {I HAVE started these}
  • study for the test on relationship names on Tuesday
  • and, I know there is something else but I can’t remember what it is!

Ok, I am off to start a load of clothes and then to work on

  • Italian
  • sweeping and mopping the dining room and living room floors
  • Italian
  • getting the wires into the sprakers {actually, if I DO do this it will be because Fred tells me how to do it!
  • Italian
  • laundry
  • Italian

I have very virtuously already been for a mile-and-a-half walk. Ok, ok, I did it because my walking partner arrived from work and expected me to do it!

I hope everyone who celebrates Turkey Day {I love how Darlingnikki calls it Dead  Bird Day} has a good day.

Until later….

In Canada Thanksgiving is not such a big deal but all this talk about turkey makes me want to run out and buy one.

Hope that things went well and you got to celebrate (or not) they way you both wanted to.

Dead bird day. I better not tell Hubs that one, he would use it all the time. Although he does enjoy Thanksgiving day with all the trimmings. I bet you will do great with your Italian. So do you have a trip to Italy planned?
