Yesterday I loaded up the clever washing and drying machines three time, brought the three loads upstairs and put them away.{Well, I put my clothes and the towels and wash clothes away; as usual, Fred put his own away}. I almost went to the grocery store in the afternoon but it was not only hot, but humid so I cried off. This morning I went early-ish {about 9 am} and, fortunately, Fred was up when I got back, so after I brought the bags in, he put most of them away. There were lots of buy-one-get-one sales and a dollar or a dollar fifty off things I would have bought anyway so that was a good trip. I didn’t use the GPS because I do know the way there!

I am watching "Battlestar Galactica" these days. I had only seen the very cheesy earlier one , but my younger son had mentioned a considerable time ago that he thought I would like the remake, and he was right. Amazon had a good sales price on the DVDs so I bought them. I am really enjoying watching them. There was a small part which made me sad and uncomfortable when the President of the Colonies is dying of metastasized breast cancer. Whoever did the research was very accurate. My sister died with metastasized colon cancer and I felt distress watching the actor who played the part of the dying president because she behaved like my sister did when she was dying. I am not going to mention the ending of this episode except to say that it came as a complete surprise to me but when it happened, I said "Of course!" And, of course, it was all very slick and happened very quickly since this was television, but apart from that it was quite believable.

Things to do tomorrow:

  • cut the burlap I already have into strips. Put acrylic paint on some of them
  • practice a few embroidery stitches on the non-painted ones and perhaps on the painted ones
  • sort out my canvases so the finished and almost finished ones are separate from the backgrounds.

New quote below! I laughed aloud when I read it first!

"We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." – Booker T. Washington.

"We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change." — Katherine Hepburn

Great quotes….and both of them are very true!

Why are your washer and dryer clever? Ours make mistakes, such as shrinking my son’s clothes the other day. Very uncleverly, the dial on the water temperature had turned to hot when it should have been warm or even cool.

I love the Hepburn quote. I believe 100%. Jeff and I often disagree over his use of the words, “I was raised that way,” because I am nothing like the way I was raised. No one is forced to do anything, be anything, or believe anything that they don’t want to..

As much as I loved science fiction and Star Trek, I don’t think I’ve ever watched an episode of Battlestar Galactica. Too busy being a mother, I think, when that series aired.

I need to have as much energy as you do. I have so many chores to do. Art and I loved the new Battle Star series. We’d like to watch it all from the beginning again.

I like the Katherine Hepburn quote… she was such a class act. They don’t make them like her anymore! I hear you on the heat… it is cooling off here at nights so I can finally sleep with my windows open to the fresh night air….
