Miles & Emmit

Well, Miles and Emmit decided to show early.  They arrived on October 29th.  Not that I went into labor.  It was more the doctor was afraid to wait it out any longer.  He said neither of the boys were breathing yet (doesn’t make sense to me) and that they had very little fluid left.  Guess I was leaking it?  I don’t understand that part either.

Miles Edward arrived at 5:52pm and Emmit Logan arrived at 5:55pm on October 29th.  They were 5 weeks premature.  Both had to be given oxygen at first.  Miles was taken off it by the end of the night but Emmit remained on it for a few more days.  Emmit also suffered from a little jaundice.  How I’m happy to report the stay at the hospital was not very long.  I returned home on November 2nd and the boys followed on November 4th.

Since they had to stay longer I was at the hospital most of the time.  The nurses knew I would be and made my visits very comfortable.  So much so they allowed me to stay in a room there.  It was just across the hall from where my recovery room was lol.  While they didn’t offer me meals, they did offer me ice water and I was allowed to stay over night in the room if I really wanted to.  However having other children at home, I decided not to.

So far things are going great at home.  First couple nights were hard on me.  I had to adjust to actually feeding them every 3 hours.  At the hospital I could sleep through a feeding if I wanted to, and I did a few times lol.  Hey, I was taking advantage of the help while I still could.  Don’t get me wrong, I still spent most of my time in the nursery with them.  Even if it wasn’t feeding time.  I even went to read to them every night before I went to bed.

So far we haven’t really confused them yet.  With Miles being smaller it’s easy to tell who is who for now.  Which is good because James and I like to try tricking each other LOL.  Though I will admit, sometimes if they aren’t side by side it will take me a few to tell who is who lol.

They are beautiful. As for the low amniotic fluid, they drink it and make pee (thus it starts being mostly pee)… sometimes there’s just not enough… It’s good that they took them sooner rather than later. I had a friend on here whose wife was pregnant with twin girls, and like one day they were both alive and kicking, and like three days later one was dead and the other was fading (if Iremember correctly). How quickly things can go scary. I am soooo happy that the boys are doing so well and they’re SO cute.
