Weekend (part III)

Friday morning, I got some cleaning in, and some computer time for a friend, I got to the bank to make some deposits, and gassed my car, went by the storage locker and picked up my sleeping pad and camping blanket, and went to Jill’s house to help her with her computer.

Jill is the Classified Personnel Director at my office. She mentioned one day that she had an iMac she’d like to throw out. I offered to help get it back on track. She accepted.

She lives in the neighborhood I lived in during junior high through college (okay, my folks lived there while I was at college). She and her husband have two darling little daughters. I went over Wednesday after work to upgrade them to OS 9.0.4 – their daughters lip-sync’d Britanny Spears to me, and generally had a good time for my benefit.

Friday was a day off for our office, so did all the stuff I said above, and then went back to Jill’s house to repair the damage I had done. Kidding – I went to finish the upgrade to OS 9.1, and a few other upgrades. That afternoon, her older daughter was napping, and her youngest was watching Barney.

By the time I left, they were both up, so we all took part in their tradition of hiding and finding easter eggs in their yard! *smiling* Kids are cool.

But, like I explained to Jill – just because I like kids doesn’t mean I want kids. It also doesn’t mean that I don’t want them. What it means is, they are not any kind of priority for me. There are already plenty of children in my life for me to enjoy just about whenever I want. I don’t need to be in a rush to add to that number.

Somehow, Jill asked about my best-friend who wasn’t talking to me, so I told her the story, and gave her the current situation report. It was funny that she asked, because I was really missing my friend Friday morning.

Friday day (not the night, which was cold and wet!) was gorgeous! It was a classic State spring day! And it was the kind of day when my friend and I would go to Lowes in the morning, and get yardwork stuff, then go spend the rest of the afternoon planting, or trimming or whatever. Then, we’d make a campfire in the evening and make dinner with pie-irons.

I looked up the address(s) for her company’s offices. I had visions of driving by them and seeing her truck there, or maybe even seeing her coming or going. Maybe I would put a can of her favorite pop in her seat or something, just to say “Hi”…. but, the timing of the day worked out that the rehearsal dinner came too soon.

I trust that was God’s way of saying “not yet”. *sigh* But, still I’ve missed her.

Well, I am typing this while a load of laundry finishes. I am going to hang those up, then go back out to the tent and try it again. Its not as windy, nor as cold, and I am much more tired. Part of me is thinking I have proven my point, though, and I ought to just get a good sleep in a real bed.

Either way, in the morning, I will strike the tent, go to second service, then spend a few minutes at the Mexican pot-luck afterwards, before going to College Town 30 minutes away to play D&D with my friends there.

Its been a great weekened – if busy. Again, I have not got some needful things taken care of, but, life goes on, and those things will continue to be there tomorrow.

Thank you all for reading, for being encouraging, and just for sharing in my good times as well as bad. I am blessed.

PS: I am finishing a litre of water before I go to bed. Thanks for your encouragement.
