Survey pt4
QUESTION 38 (continued)
Interesting process, being arrested and jailed. I was fingerprinted and retina-scanned, then taken to a private holding cell for processing. I was in there for about 2 and a half hours. I got bored, and I am slightly clausterphobic. I was amused by the drunk woman who was shouting from the dry-up tank.
I climbed on my sink, and talked through the vent – eye-to-eye – with the guy in the next cell. He was busted for running a stop sign. But he was driving his friend’s car, and they found pot under the driver’s seat. It wasn’t his, of course, but they brought him in anyway.
Then, I was released to get my out-processing. I signed a signature bond of $100 value, they gave me my keys and a court date, and I walked out a long tunnel to the clanks of heavy doors and the freedom of the parking lot.
It was interesting once. But I never want to do that again.
39.DO YOU KNOW YOUR STATE FLOWER? The sunflower.
40.CAN YOU SEE IN THE DARK? The core of my vision is burned out, due to a fetish of staring at bright light sources (including the sun) as a child. The balance of my vision is incredibly acute. When I am in the dark, or need to see critically for any reason, i have to keep bouncing my vision from side to side, so I can see the subtle contrasts in my periphery.
My geeky friends and I also use “sonar”. We have each practiced our own personal “PING” that we use to help echo-locate large objects and walls near us in pitch black.
Try it. Practice it. It works.
(Mine sounds like the “BOP” sound of the radar pulse in the original arcade “Battlezone” game)
41.DO YOU HAVE A REFLECTION WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR? Yes, but its backwards.
42.DO YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE IN IT? Some days. Other days, I have to tilt my head down abit and give “that look”. *g*
43.DID YOU DO ANY LAUNDRY TODAY? No.
44.DO YOU PULL YOUR EYELASHES OUT? I don’t “pluck” them for beauty. But every now and again when I get one kinda catching on the others, I reach up and pull out a whole fist full. My eyes always feel better after that.
45.WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU PLAYED HIDE AND SEEK? If “capture the flag” counts, it was last month. If not, it was undoubtedly with some child (“peekaboo” is a form of Hide and Seek) and probably within the past 6 months.
The last REAL game of it?… The only ones I can remember that was the pure game, was at my grandfathers place with his new wife after my grandma died. She had lots of eclectic junk in and around her yard. It was a good playing area. We played until after dusk on the night I am remembering… That would have been 20 years ago or more.
46.ARE YOU GLAD THIS SURVEY IS ALMOST OVER? I am just hoping I don’t need to save any more answers to another page.
47.DO RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS ALWAYS GET YOU DOWN? No. If the rain is from a thunderstorm then the storm energy will spike my own energy and I become listless and anxious. If it is a thick, sunblocking slowmoving boring drizzle, then yes. If it is just a spring or summer shower, they relax me but dont depress me.
Mondays don’t bring me down any more than Tues – Thurs. I am one of those morning-anxiety people. I can’t wake up well M-Thu, and usually have a bitter stomach. Not Fridays though. I get up sharp and feel great. Wierd!
Now, who sang that song?
48.HAVE YOU EVER HAD FOOD POISONING? Yes. When I was attending Arizona State, my trip back to The City would take me through Liberal, Kansas. Liberal is (one of) the hub(s) of trucking in this country. It has more truck-stops per mile than any city I know, and this in an otherwise podunk rural town.
Anyway, one time heading back south after Thanksgiving, I took a foolish risk and got an EGG SALAD SANDWICH from a truckstop in Liberal. Everyone knows that you should never eat Egg Salad unless you or your mother made it, and sometimes not even then!
But, i had a craving, and it looked fresh, and it was a reputable truckstop.
About an hour or so later, I slammed on my breaks and blew. Then, I drove 90 miles per hour to get into Dalhart, TX. I crawled into a motel at 1am. I begged the manager for some soda crackers or something. He complied – raided his own kitchen.
I slept until 10am. I was feeling better, but still didn’t eat anything. I got a coke or something, and took off. Several hours later, probably in Albequrque, i actually got a hamburger. Big mistake.
By the time I reached Gallup, I was retching again, and weak as a dog. I got another motel room – this time around 7 or 8pm and slept in until 2pm again. What is neat is that when I went to bed, I was in the dry dirty desert of Gallup. When I woke up, I was in a winter wonderland! They got like a foot, foot point 5 of snow while I slept!
I was delighted! God blessed my slow travel with neat views.
Well, I had passed the poison, but I was still sore from the experience. I rolled on into College town and home and slept for another day.
49.EVER WANTED TO GET FOOD POISONING? Not really. But I feel I can give it a more authenic despite after actually having it.
It sucks!! *g*
50. DID YOU LIKE THESE SURVEY QUESTIONS AND SHOULD I MAKE UP MORE SURVEYS? Yes. They propmted what I hope are some good stories.
