Recollection
Its been a busy week for me. Not busy burden as it has been last month… but just “doing”. Its a good feeling, to be making progress on things, on life. Its nice, and I haven’t felt it for several months. Its good to have it back.
I’m sitting here feeling a nice warm fuzzy. There are so many little things, and some big ones, that I didn’t get to journal this last week…
Things like sunsets. We’ve had some amazing sunsets! When we have weather here, we get some beautiful storm light. We also sometimes, as anywhere I suppose, get these beautiful subtle and radiant pallets of color on our western canvas. Simply amazing! Praise God!
We had a couple of those this week.
I remember… I’ve been cleaning house every evening this week (when I haven’t been fixing xomeone’s computer or going to Prayer meeting). Thats whats been keeping me away from journaling. Several times I’ve almost journaled on paper, but I am journaling on paper for this prayer project, and doing other writing just seemed less attractive – and it took away from my cleaning! *smile*
Anyway, I remember (oh wow, deja vu!! …nevermind, its not what I am about to say – kinda..) on I think Wednesday night, on Letterman, seeing “Biff Henderson’s Things to do with a Stopwatch” and laughing my ahem off!
If you didn’t see it, he would go around and time random things involving bystanders. Like “If I go into this coffee shop, how long will it take someone to stop me from eating the mints by the register?” Then he’d start the stopwatch, and start popping mints. In this case, no one did!! Another one, he stuck his right hand in the air: “How long will it take someone to give me a high-five?” It took 48 second I think for some passer-by to just smack his hand.
That sort of humor is right up my alley. I loved it.
My point is, there were lots of little things like that which just tickled my fancy, which I haven’t been able to journal about.
I also wanted to write about something that happened at the Land.
Children love me. No, not right.. I seem to make an automatic connection with intuitive children. I’ve written about this theme before, I think…
Anyway, I was at the Potluck at the Land. I spent several minutes milling amongst the food tables, talking to the others, cheering on the two cooks (fresh fish fry – most excellent!) and whatnot, and then sat down to eat at a picnic table with 7 other people, mostly guys, all of us way into adult age.
After about an hour, most everyone had finished eating, and left the table to swim or tan or talk or whatever else floated their boat. But, still, alot of people were in the area still – they just turned their attention from the food.
So I am sitting at my bench. I have cleaned my plate and I am just looking around absently in thought. I become aware of a girl, prolly around 8-10, playing ball. She was tossing a bag-ball into the air, and swoofing at it with an aluminum bat.
Well, I watched only for a moment – the bat inertia gave her quite a spin – as I wasn’t really interested in what she was doing. I was more lost in my own thoughts. Besides, i knew there were other adults nearby watching her, including her mother, and her mom’s boyfriend.
But, every now and again I would glance in her direction if she swung too hard, or just accidentally drew the attention.
Well, one of these times, she saw me; met my glance. I smiled wanly, like all adults do when they are ignoring children *chuckle*, and slowly she smiled a genuine and .. and powerful, smile.
She saw something in me in that instant. Something I was all but trying to hide! The next thing I know, she is performing for me!
Now, come on!! Lots of other people there had looked at her and smiled that night – at least 5 or 6. But she picked ME as the object of her attention. WHY!!! *laughs*
The only thing I can guess is because an intuit automatically recognizes another intuit.
(cont’d)
I would have smiled too…
