Father’s day stuff
I found out today that I can start, should start, using my knee again for anything I am comfortable using it. The doctor said that there’s no other damage, just bruising, and that it will continue to hurt for the next couple of weeks. Movement is what it needs now, to help pump out the bloodclot/bruise from within the soft tissues of the knee joint. [ for reference see “I cried for you” a few entries back, when I release it ]
This means that tonight I get to go bike riding again. I am planning a night wanderer in the downtown area. My hesitation about it is only that my knee is not at full capacity – should I face a fight-or-flight situation, I may not prevail. …but, its also fairly flat, which makes for easy riding.
Friday was a half day, and so I spent time in a meeting with Richard E – long time client who is a classic success story of an everyday Joe just doin’ what he can to realize his dreams of marketing a patented retail product. He paid me some serious bucks, so I’m glad I took the time.
I did a few other errands in town, then I headed out to the Land. RTE is next weekend, and we are busy trying to get the place spruced up. As it was, I was already a little fatigued – my knee hurt, and I was somewhat depressed. I ended up stalling with D until someone could review plans for Saturday with me. Then I came into town and went to Barnes & Noble.
Saturday was up early to help Kim do network wiring at church. Then I went out to the Land, and helped dig post holes, then volunteering my truck to go get fencing supplies. By the time I got back and unloaded, it was 20 after 4pm. I was late.
I got home, cleaned up and headed to Timberline by 5:30. The salads were just arriving, as my folks placed my order via cellphone. We had a good dinner, then went to see Windtalkers. Its on the inside of the mall, at Hollywood 6, so the projection sucked, and the DSS kicked in and out at random. Which reminds me – I need to call the Assurance services provider. But – I did get a scoop of Mint Chocolate Chip before going in the movie.
Afterwards, I was in a daze. We went to B&N, and my dad bought me coffee for “being such a good son!” We laughed. Anyway, then we all kinda split up and looked up our own thing. I served as connector, popping in on the folks from time to time.
Overall, however, the movie had left me somewhat despondent. What I really longed for was the company of a friend. I became fairly sad and lost for awhile, almost desperate.
They decided they were done around 10:30, so I followed them out, and they went home while I went back to church to finish networking our printers. We set them up for IP, and I needed to configure them at each PC workstation.
I didn’t get into bed until after 2. Ugh.
Sunday came early as I headed out to the tour. More on that later.
(I finished this entry sometime in July, only to discover that it was too long for this one page. To read the finish, you will have to skip ahead 30 days)
