i’ll always remember to forget about you

a while ago, i read a poem & the last line was “But science explains it all.” & i wondered what was so bad about it. I’m not a poet, but while bored one day, I wrote this down. I really only like the last 3 lines, but eh. I’m not good at judging this sort of thing, so what do you think?

so tell me, love
why equations and theories can’t be
poems made up of numbers & variables
instead of words.

& why can’t a love
explained in chemistry and physics
be just as romantic as one described in sonnets
by shakespeare or blake?

& why shouldn’t an anatomically
correct diagram of the human body
hang in museums next to a
watercolor woman who doesn’t even
have all her parts identified?

even when reduced to wavelengths & atmosphere

the sunset still inspires
and knowing that stars are just balls of gases

burning light years away

never stopped me from wishing on them.

gorgeous…and something i have thought about a lot as well. knowing how emotions and other things work scientifically does not decrease the wonder…actually, in myself it usually inspires more wonder. *hug* amazing, darling
