sunny beach and wedding
"I want to go to the beach."
"No, problem. there is a beach less than 5 minutes away from the house."
"Seriously?"
And he was serious. It was like a dream come true.
[Why hadn’t we visited his parents in the summer, before?]
And we had a key that unlocked the gate,
so we walked down the windy pathway
and i felt like i was a kid wanting to yell out:
"a ya vizyu morya!"
[i would visit the Black Sea as a child and it was a long trek to it,
especially as a kid
so Id get very excited and yell out "i see the ocean!" at the first speckle of the ocean blue.]
On the windy pathway to the beach, we found bushes upon bushes
of rasberries!
And we ate them by the handfuls!
And when I wanted berries out of my reach,
he created a grabbing stick and brought them closer to me
Oh what a man, I got.
The beach couldn’t be more perfect.
Infinity stretching, east, west and south and north.
And we breathed in the infinity of it all.
The waves. The winds. The sounds.
The rocks were like jems.
And we picked them up and oohed and awwed over them.
Needless to say, we left with pockets full of rocks.
I dont know what washed over me,
but I became like a squealing kid with happiness
My cheeks hurt I smiled so much.
I feel Im happier human being when Ive got the ocean near me.
Splashing in it, is like a spiritual and physical renewal of self.
So I splashed.
Like whoa.
[and i was scared of the sea weed so Brian caught it, and told me to hold it so I would get over my fears
and I love it when I can get over my fears. Before I knew it, I was swimming with the sea weed as if they were my friends]
We sat on the edge of the rock that warmed our bodies.
We talked of life and love.
And contemplated being naughty.
[because when youre in high spirits, you cant help think naughty]
"I’ll now think of this rock differently" -the boy
We went to a wedding and arrived when the bride was walking down the aisle.
What wedding starts on time?
Apparently this one did.
The bride’s mother spoke softly and cried through an Irish blessing.
The groom made funny jokes whenever he could.
The bride cried when saying her vows
[i probably would have too]
There was a blessing said of hands.
And I held onto the boy’s hand
and wondered what our hands will experience together.
Despite the heat, everyone was dressed in their fanciest.
All the tables had the theme of videogames [one of the few influences of the groom]
We enjoyed any breezes that came our way.
Conversations kept us busy.
The groom’s grandfather made a toast.
He had been married to his wife for over 50 years.
His secret to a happy marriage?
Respect. Trust. Believe.
"Live and let live"
I got teary eyed
because I want to have grandparents tell me the secrets to happy marriage at my wedding,
but i have no living grandparents.
And because it tears me up when I see couples together for so long.
It makes the young dreamer in me ache.
See? life isn’t as cynical as you think it is.
They raised the groom and bride up high.
And it happened to swiftly.
With such excitement.
We all prayed that they wouldn’t hit the groom’s head agains the ceiling.
The moon and the mansion and the glowing
made you really ponder
is this a fairytale?
On the drive back to our hotel
we saw this view
and just had to stop.
Why are some sunsets so surreal?
Were they always this imaginative?
PS these photos were NOT taken
with my new DSLR.
But with my canon point&shoot.
exquisite.
