about today
Today was about breathing.
Today was about learning how to breath and be okay.
Sometimes one needs to let the things not shake you into worry.
The bolded emails in the inbox.
The rythmic sounds of a cell phone with messages.
Deadlines.
Bills.
Responsibilities.
Appointments.
Meetings.
etc etc etc.
Today was about breathing.

Today:
I sat waiting for a subject. Her name is Sophie and she sounded very abrupt
on the phone with an accent I cant quite pinpoint, and an urgency as if
e.v.e.r.y. s.e.c.o.n.d. matters and I cant waste her seconds.
[she is 70 years old]
But there I sat at the entrance, and she never came.
It was warm. Freakishly warm. It is November
and I was wearing just a long sleeve shirt.
The sky was gray. That thin, slippery kind of gray.
I watched the cars and the students and the smiles and the frowns.
There was this one girl who had a heavy bag on her back, and she was running and panting
towards the bus on the other side of the street. I know what she must be feeling.
Wait. Just wait.
I held my breathe.
And she made it.
And I know that feeling too.
Sometimes life will wait for you.

In lab, I put my head down and almost fell asleep.
You ever get that feeling?
A blink can equal a moment of peace.
A blink can turn into a nap.
I might have taken a small nap on the keyboard.
.
.
.
Tae Kwon Do class woke me up with its jumping jacks and sit ups and stretches.
I love the feeling I get.
When I have to punch my fists into the air.
And.
YELL.
I feel.
alive
.
.
.
Marina: I love the way you flex your toes. [bursts into giggling]
Me: [flexes toes]
Marina: It looks like wings
Me: Im going to fly awaaaayyy!

Memento is on tv.
It feeds the neuroscientist in me.
What will happen if you didnt have a short term memory?
It makes you realize
how much you should appreciate your
hippocampus.
I wish I could create a Brain Awareness Association.
BAA.
:o)
Great film.

what happens if you don’t have your short-term memory is you become like me and you get in trouble with your girlfriend all the time. actually, miss neuroscientist, i would be a wonderful subject for you, with my rare headache disease for which my neurologist is still grasping for a treatment or a cure.
