nothing but good news
First things first, our mortgage was approved yesterday!
Finally.
I’ve been drooling over that house since February.
And our offer was accepted 2 months ago!
It’s all taken so long.
But we’re over the biggest hurdle now. Just the legal stuff to finish up.
Finger’s crossed we’ll be moving in a month!
And in case you missed it, here’s our perfect little love nest 🙂
It was father’s day on Sunday.
I went round to my parents house with my brother and his girlfriend.
We all had such a lovely day.
Mom made a roast. We sat round the table chatting.
And we spent the rest of the day in the garden.
Weeding, chatting, drinking coffee, soaking in the sun.
Lucie and I made a box out of chicken wire to put around her potted strawberry plant to stop the pigeons pecking at it.
It was just nice having such a relaxed day with the family.
I had my eyes tested for the first time in over 2 years.
After the test the optician said "this is your new prescription" then changed the lenses in front of my eyes and said "this is your old prescription". Holy wow, I’m not sure how I was able to see anything before!
The test was free because they’d sent me a voucher in the post, and to be honest the free test was the only reason I went.
I was also super cheeky and asked if I could just have my prescription and ended up leaving without buying new glasses. I’ve watched enough Watchdog, I know my rights 😀 haha.
I did however go back and ask specsavers how much it would cost to have new lenses put into my old frames and they said £39 for standard lenses with no coating. urgh.
Had a quick look online and found an internet company you could post your glasses to for free and they only charged £14. My word.
I ended up using them, sent them 2 pairs of glasses, had new lenses put in both, had anti-scratch coating on both and an anti-glare coating on the ones I use for driving and the whole lot only cost me £43. Amazing!
Should have them back within 7 working days.
I got KICKED at practise last night.
Someone’s wheel went right into my ankle bone.
It was that sort of pain like when you stub your toe and it takes your breath away.
Had to sit out for 5 minutes. ha.
It’s my mom’s birthday tomorrow,
I’ve bought her the most beautiful decorative scarf from Zaras.
So beautiful in fact, I want to keep it for myself!
Got her a few other bits and bobs too.
Ben bought a car! A green car!
He started his new job last week and needed a car since it’s 11 miles outside of the city.
I’m so happy for him. He was stuck at his old job for years and was terribly unhappy, but did the very wise thing of sticking it out until he had found something worth leaving it for. After all, there’s really no point in leaving one shit job for another shit job.
He just seems so happy now. And who wouldn’t be, with a new job, a new car and a new house all in one month!
I had a few derby girls round on Tuesday for a discussion group.. bit of a long story… but the point of this lame story is that Elroy was the life and soul of the party, everyone loved him 🙂
Niks came to visit 2 weekends ago. It took her all day to drive here because the traffic was so bad.
But she stayed Friday to Sunday and lots of fun was had!
She came with me to training on Friday night, we went to watch the Bristol vs Swansea bout on the Saturday, went to the afterparty saturday night and she left to go home on Sunday morning.
Saturday night we had a few drinks at home before we went to the pub. Ended up making a drinking game out of a rom com on channel 4.
ha, only us.

So awesome that Ben got a job he’s happy with – going from crap job to great job is a HUGE life enhancer! Haha, I just noticed how many exclamation marks I used in this note. So much happy in this entry, so here’s some more!!!!!!! 😀
