my birthday

I really milked my birthday for all it was worth this year! haha, I had such a wonderful time.

On Thursday I went out for supper with my parents and Ben.
We went to this little Italian restaurant a few minutes walk up the road from my flat.
All the waiters were actually Italian and they were singing along (badly and quite loudly) to the Italian music they had playing. It made me laugh a lot.
The atmosphere was great and it was really lovely.
The only negative was that my food was a bit burnt and the burnt flavour came through the whole dish. I didn’t complain though.. it wasn’t that bad and all the people working there seemed too nice!

I slow cooked some beef stew all day Friday and Rachael came over on Friday night to have dinner with us.
We had a few drinks and then headed into town.
I spent friday night in a magic bar with a bunch of close friends.
The magician was in one corner of the bar and there was a constant crowd around him. I kept waiting for the crowd to clear to go and watch some magic but that never happened. When I eventually decided to fight my way through the crown to watch a little I still couldn’t see from where I was standing and I was quite drunk and very easily distracted so I just ended up talking to the people around me instead of paying any attention.

There was a magic trick vending machine in this bar though and Steve got me a trick deck of cards, which everyone was too drunk to figure out. I’ve still got it in my handbag, I should really have a look at them 🙂
It also turns out that most of the cocktails were buy one get one free, so everytime someone went to get me a drink I ended up with one in each hand!
I went out with £20.80 in my purse and came home with £20.80. As your birthday should be I guess 😀
There were also a bunch of reserved tables in the bar and they all had a sign saying "reserved for Mollie". It became a bit of a thing through the night that we needed to find Mollie and make friends with her so we had somewhere to sit. We never found Mollie, but we did find what we can only presume was Mollie’s cake.
There was this random chocolate cake that appeared out of no where. Stephen nicknamed it "the AIDS cake" because we had no idea where it had come from or who it belonged to, but we all ate it anyway.

It was about 2am and we decided we wanted to go dancing. We walked 20 seconds over the road to a club opposite the bar we were in. it was free to get into, but it was pretty sketchy inside. I didn’t care and continued to get my groove on. We only stayed there about 45 minutes.
Ben and I walked home with a cheeseburger each and got to bed just gone 3am I think.

Saturday was my actual birthday and I woke up at 9:30am and went to a 2 hour roller derby practise with a hangover.
It was awful and wonderful all at the same time.
Afterwards I decided I had earned a McDonalds. I got a happy meal and went home.

I spent a few hours watching TV with Ben, then Rach and I went to the cinema.
Ben was supposed to come with us, but he was being a wimp and still nursing his hangover.
Originally he was supposed to work on Saturday, but he managed to get the day off and then I ended up not spending very much time with him at all.
We went to see The Descendants. The adverts made it look like it was sad, but equally quirky. Well, it wasn’t. It was like the most depressing thing I’ve ever seen. There were a few laughs, but not nearly enough to outweigh the tears. Don’t get me wrong though, it was beautiful.
Rachael came home with me and I sat between her and Ben on the couch. We ordered chinese, had birthday cake, and watched some tv.

I had a really nice time.
And I got lots of really lovely things too
