Heavenly shades of night are falling

It’s twilight time…..

The Platters

One of the most amazing times of day for me when I am out for my walks at The Battery or Colonial Lake is that brief time between the end of a sunset and the fall of night. Twilight. There is usually a very short interval when I can take photographs without a tripod and with fill-flash that illuminate one of those mysterious, in-between worlds that can only be seen at this special time. Before I got my digital camera, I never took photos like this before, but now I am quite enamored of the special properties and moods of these quickly concluding daylight moments, soon to vanish into the dark.

Beautiful photos — makes me want to be there. I love that time of day too — as well as the song by the Platters which still triggers the bittersweet memories of an old secret love.

it certainly is a beautiful and significant time of day and your reflections and images prove that. i too love the twilight but unfortunately here on my island we don’t get a lot of that time span due to our general climate. When I lived down our south island there is a lingering twilight time there and it was always very special. Great for pics too. Have a wonderful day my friend, and thanksfor the reminder. hugs P

It is indeed a dreamy time of day 🙂 Could be the opening to a heart-warming novel…do you also write fiction? I love my digital too, but I confess, sometimes I miss my all-manual. I think I’m just nostalgic.

I love the “orange sky” sunsets… I never fail to think of Fredrick Church paintings whenever I witness one either in person or through pictures…hang in there my friend….

The mysteries of twilight…half-light, half-dark…always mesmerize me and you’ve captured the time perfectly…a lamp in a window, the sky aflame, silhouettes, a blossom’s deepened hues…. RYN: Can’t tell you how delighted I am to hear that you’re moving forward with the book. It will be loved by many people, I’m sure (me included!) but certainly by the people of Charleston who will be entranced by how you bring their city and region to vivid life on the page.

Lovely photos! 🙂 ryn: Thank you! Those beautiful fall colors seem to fade away so quickly here. The recent winds and rains have nearly stripped most of the trees of their leaves. The oaks, with their deep gold, brown, and burgundy leaves, are still hanging on, though.
