the spooky song

Since you came to town
I stay up all night
and I turn to the dark
when they show me the light
and I hate you for being
as sick as I am
for making me love
just a man, just a man

Couldn’t you be forgettably dumb
couldn’t you speak in the idiots tongue?
Couldn’t you walk, peaceful and calm?
If you did, I could leave you,
I could leave you alone.

but you’ve got this magic
that I can’t resist
You’re a monster who won’t
admit that I exist

But darling, I’m  spooky
I’m scary like you
and I’m wearing your chains
and I’m rattling them, too

Love it, the lines: “You’re a monster who won’t admit that I exist” is so poignant, and the use of enjambment is so creative in that context, stating your portrayal of being non existant in their eyes, seperate from themselves being the monster above. Wiked
