Walking around in a daze.
I went back to work on Monday, and thankfully it was an easy day for me. However, Tuesday I had an appointment with the specialist who decided my meds needed changing. I’ve been on the same ones for nearly 30 years, and he said even though he’d put me on the new ones, I’ll have to continue with the old meds too, as I can’t just come off them as my body is now reliant on them.
So here I am drifting through the days feeling like I can sleep at any time. But I’m coping ok and if these new meds work, then he’ll wean me off the others. I just hope it’s all worked out before we leave in April on our trip. And even though I feel really dopey, I’m having trouble sleeping at night, which he said might happen. I have another appointment to see him in 3 weeks.
Then today when I went to the chemist to pick my script up, I had to pay full price, because my Centrelink (Social Security) card was rejected. Which meant a trip to the next town which is about 40kms away. When I explained why I was there, they looked up the computer and said according to them I hadn’t returned from New Zealand in November! Immigration had made some error when I got home, and that put a stop on my benefits. The problem has been fixed hopefully, but I still have to see about the chemist’s bill tomorrow.
My niece will be 40 on March 5th, same date as Melissa’s birthday. I can’t believe she’s 40. Where have the years gone? She used to visit us all the time in Melbourne when she was young and we saw her grow up.
Melissa was telling me one of her teachers at uni was referring to age groups, and said 30 and over was middle aged! She objected strenuously and no wonder. Since when was 30 middle aged? The teacher is mid 30s so he thinks of himself as old I assume.
She is loving her course, which is a preparation for uni for mature aged students. She has her first exam in a couple of weeks, which is worth 10% of her mark. I think her final exams are late May, when we are away. Then depending on being successful, she starts her full-time
course in July. She is living the life of a poor student now and is not too happy about it! But she’ll be fine as she is good with what money she has. And of course we wouldn’t see her starve.
The weather has been terrible. Days on end of 35C+ temps and today it was supposed to rain. The little drop that fell here only made it more humid, so I expect another restless night for both of us. We need some cool weather, especially at night.
Ok that’s it for me. I hope I sleep better tonight.
Bye…..
If you’ve been missing since November, does that mean you don’t have to pay the utility ills, too? 🙂 RYN: It was a reference to exercising and canning and other punishing endeavors. 🙂
