Telstra pain and new laptop problems.
Where to start!
I’ve spent the last 4 weeks trying to connect to ADSL. I have a USB net connection which was much too slow, so decided to connect to
wireless, as husband wants an iPad.
After doing the installation, my connection kept dropping out. I spoke to so many tech people from Telstra, who all made different changes to my computer and modem, but still the same problem. So they sent me out a new, different modem. That one wouldn’t even connect me at all. Spent days speaking to more techs, more changes to the computer and modem, but still nothing.
They finally sent out someone to check the lines, found a fault and I now have a connection. I’m glad it’s fixed as I was worn out talking to them on the phone for at least an hour each time. But what a difference it’s made. Everything is so much faster with ADSL.
When I was talking to Telstra I mentioned that I hoped they weren’t going to charge me for the new connection as it wasn’t working and I’d had it for a month. I was assured they would credit me for it. But on getting my bill yesterday, there was a charge for 2 net connections. I knew they would charge me for it. But it’s all fixed now.
I bought a new laptop last weekend, and when I got I home discovered some of the letters on the keyboard weren’t working. It’s a 120km round trip to where I bought it, so I wasn’t too happy about having to drive so far to return it. However, they replaced it with a dearer model Toshiba and threw in an anti virus program too.
The weather has been so cold during the night that for the first time since we’ve been in this town, our water pipes were frozen the last 2 mornings. But the weather during the day has been lovely and sunny, even though it’s been cold. I don’t like cold weather so roll on summer.
We’re going to Melbourne on Friday. Evan and his dad are going to the football, where husband will probably be freezing! While they’re doing that I’ll be visiting my aunt, who has been diagnosed with cancer, even though she was told there was no sign of it during her hospital visit a while ago. But it’s now too advanced for any treatment.
After that I’m meeting up with Betty and Georgina for lunch on Saturday. Then will pick up husband from Evan’s place on Sunday and we’ll head home. A quick visit only.
2 weeks after that we have another trip to Melbourne for a 30th and 40th birthday party for my niece and her husband. It’s a 70/80s theme and we have to be in costume. I had a look on the net for 70s themes and we’ve decided to be punks. Johnny Rotten style. God knows how we will look. We’ve never been to a costume party. It will be interesting to say the least!
Melissa, Luka and Evan are coming too, so we’ll spend 2 days in Melbourne. I’m looking forward to our family being together again, even if it’s only for 2 nights. Plus Melissa and Evan will meet cousins they haven’t seen for years. Evan was so young he won’t remember any of them.
I will be officially able to retire on 13 July, as I’ll be 64.5 years then. But as I intend to keep working, (can’t imagine staying home) I will receive a part pension of $490 every 2 weeks, on top of my wages. So we’re saving to visit my friend Ang in New Zealand in November. Then a visit home to Scotland next year. (We’ll meet yet Orange Sorbet).
Can’t wait for it all to happen.
Tax time! I’m getting a refund! Yeah!
OK that’s it.
Bye……………..
Yes, we’ll definitely meet next year! You’ll need to put some photos up of you and your husband as punks!

I envy your cold weather. It’s been triple digit (F)heat here (Kansas) for two weeks. Glad you got your wireless fixed. When I got mine, a tech came out and checked my line before they put it in. It did need repair so I’m glad they checked.

Too bad we can’t just even our temperatures out and we’d both be a whole lot more comfortable. Cancer is so deceptive I have no doubt that it wasn’t found and then too far gone. I’m getting close to retirement age but figure I’ll have to work until I’m 68. I would so love to be able to retire. Or just work part time. But I’ll work for healthcare.

Being a punk should be fun. Glad you got the internet connection sorted out. Frozen pipes! Wow. It’s been cold here but that hasn’t happened at least not yet.
