Rain and floods.

I think I can confidently say the drought has ended! It doesn’t seem that long since 90% of NSW was in drought. But it is now 75% flooded. The rainfall has been tremendous. We’re lucky that we live on high ground, and the only places that flood are down by the river and people whose backyards are on the river.
However I don’t know how people who have appointments out of town will fare, as all the roads are cut off by the water. I guess I won’t be going anywhere for a while.
Victoria is also in a bad way. Like NSW, Victorian towns are being evacuated or on standby. Rivers rising rapidly. Scary. I feel for people whose houses are being flooded for the 2nd time. Once would be bad enough. We live on the NSW/Victoria border.
I’ve lost just over 20kgs. Yay! I also tried on a size 14 top (don’t know what size that is in other countries, but it’s average size here) and it fitted nicely. Also size 16 shorts. Husband says he’s going to come in one day and I’ll have disappeared! I’ve also bought new shoes for exercising as my feet have slimmed down too. I wasn’t expecting that. They don’t look any different.
My aunt in Melbourne had tests and we’re glad to know it’s not cancer. Apparently her eosophagus is bent because of reflux and scar tissue, which meant she couldn’t swallow. While she was under having the test, they stretched it some and may do it again in the near future. Meanwhile she’s seeing a dietitian to build herself up. Good news.
Melissa is 30 on the 5th. Hard to believe 30 years have gone by. We’ve been lucky with our 2. Neither have caused us much trouble. Some parents do it hard with their children. I like to think it’s because I talked about everything that could cause problems in their lives. Drugs, alcohol, driving, etc. I always pointed out that it wasn’t them I distrusted, but what others could do to them. But we may have just been lucky. Who knows. I just know I’m grateful.
One of my Scottish cousins has a son coming to Australia for a visit in June. I’m trying to arrange for him to meet as many of the family as possible, which would have to be in Melbourne. He’s visiting a friend in Adelaide and I hope he has time to visit us too.
The rain has paused for a bit so I’m off to work.

Bye………

All you can do is talk to them and hope it sticks. We’ve had our troubles with one of our boys, the other two are in balance. Happy 30th to your daughter! Our eldest was miffed when he turned 30. I sang “Forever Young” to him. He wasn’t impressed. Go YOU on the weight loss!!!! RYN: LOL! That will be the book my kids will write!

RYN: Men just do not understand the sacrifices we make. 🙂

Yes, you are lucky! I’ve got one child that has turned out really well, and the other one is now trying hard! I’m convinced that if he hadn’t had mental health problems that he wouldn’t have took the path that he did! Congratulations on the weight loss!

Great news about your aunt and well done on the weight loss front!

RYN I haven’t actually put them onto CDs but onto a thumb drive. I played a bit of one back today through the computer and it sounded ok. I’m not famed for my discernment though and don’t go in for flash audio sysstems, so near enough is good enough for me. Pretty boggy here too.

Wow! Congratulations! You have inspired me to try harder. I didn’t think feet would shrink much either – some of my old shoes are loose now, but I thought they’d stretched.

RYN: yes, I don’t know as much as (Scottish) Husband, but I am fond of Rabbie. I remember once a hilarious and fascinating night in the 1970s when he brought home a man from the Burns Club in Canberra, who turned out to be from USSR, as it was then, but an expatriate. This man knew just about all of Burns’ poems by heart and declaimed them impressively. Burns is, or was then, very popular in the USSR – the “Brotherhood of Man” thing, apparently. “A man’s a man for a’ that.”
