Plans and more plans.

I’ve been ill for the last week with some unknown virus. I was dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous, slight headaches, fuzzy headed and anything I ate was not sitting well in my stomach. I was also sleeping 9+ hours a night and waking up tired. And was also really tired for most of the day. I never sleep that many hours. 8 hours is a long sleep for me. The only difference I could detect in what I was taking was a change in my meds. The chemist didn’t have my usual brand so gave me a substitute, which was supposedly exactly the same. Although my doctor said it couldn’t be the meds, I know how I felt after being on them. So I got back on my usual ones and gradually have improved. I’m not quite 100% but getting there. I’ll never know what it was. Maybe it was a virus and the pills had nothing to do with it.
And it’s just as well I’m getting better, because Melissa asked me to be in her charity funrun Sunday week in Sydney. Not running though, as apart from the fact I wouldn’t even attempt to run 10kms, Melissa has a hip problem and has been told not to run or jog until it’s fixed. So we’re walking. I can do walking quite well!
I’m looking forward to spending some time with her, although it won’t be the same as sitting at her house just being together. I’ll post the links to our charity pages at the end so you can see what we’re going to be doing.
The weekend after that, which is the 10th, we are off to New Zealand to visit my netfriend. We’ve never met, although Ang and I been friends and shared photos for 10+ years. Neither of us remembers how we first met. Maybe in a penfriends room but who knows. I’m really looking forward to it. We are going to Nelson, which is in the north of the South Island. Then we’ll visit Christchurch and hope they don’t get another quake while we’re there! It’s not known as the shaky isles for nothing.
When we get home I’ll be busy planning our trip to the UK next April. We’ll be going to Rome first, as M was really sick the first time we were there. He had longed for years to see the Colosseum, only to be nearly fainting from a tummy bug the 4 days we were in Rome. We did throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain, but never thought we would get back there. But when we told Melissa we would like to meet Luka’s parents in Poland, she suggested we go via Rome. And Luka will be there to translate as he will be visiting them too for a family baptism.
After Rome, it’s Krakow which will include a day trip to Auschwitz, then on to Warsaw where Luka picks us up to drive to his parents home.
I think we’ll be staying a week there, then on to Prague for a few days. I’m making the most of where we are! Total exhaustion I would think.
Then it’s on to Scotland to see all the relatives. We have a few places we want to see again in Scotland, and other places we didn’t get to the first time. I just hope the weather is better than it was in 2008!
We’ll also spend more time in England this trip too. We only had 4 days last time, thinking we would be back. But we did an extra trip with Melissa and Evan, which meant we had no time to get back there.
When I see Melissa at the weekend, she has rail maps of Europe and is going to help me plan the Rome/Poland/Prague part of the trip. I’m hoping to get an electronic translator which will make life easier over there.
Well I tried for ages to set a link to our funrun pages, but can’t get it to work. Possibly my fault, so if someone knows how to do it, I would appreciate some help. I tried searching in the FAQ section, but no luck there either.
If I can get it posted, I’ll edit this page.

Bye…………..

I went with Jonny to Prague a few years ago. 2 or 3 days was enough.

Even if doctors and pharmacists say there is no difference between medicines made by different companies or the generics there is. I know there is with my thyroid meds.

ryn. We loved Prague.Walking over the old bridge and up to the castle. It was December and a little cool but it was wonderful eating out in the main square, outside but under tall patio heaters and the market had lots of Christmas stuff and hot dogs. The guide books say to not eat in those main squares as more expensive. It wasn’t to eat their Goulash and drink mulled wine.lovely memories.

Thanks a lot for your sweet note. How are you doing? We had a tough night with the wind and Sandy howling. I couldn’t sleep well. Now, I’m at work. Commuting wasn’t easy with the gusty wind pushing my car left and right. Thanks for the note. Have a nice day!

RYN: Thank you for your note. 🙂 It makes me happy to hear about marriages and partnerships that have lasted really well over the years, and also to hear from straight allies. Hope you feel better!
