Melting away.

It’s going to be 39C today with very high winds, which are already threatening to blow my outside blinds away. While I like the hot weather, these extremes are just too much. Apart from that though there is the danger of bushfires. There are some a few hours from us and lots more all over NSW and Victoria. Poor Tasmania has had a really bad time of it, but no deaths as far as I know. Lots of houses burned to the ground though. I can’t imagine losing my house, not so much because of the house but all the irreplaceable things like photos and mementoes.
I’ve managed to sleep at night but in the morning I don’t feel rested because it’s too hot for a restful sleep.
The wind is so strong the magpies were having to fight to get from the ground to the tree branch when the dogs went near them. The wind kept blowing them back down. It’s really howling out there.
We keep our dogs outside because of the amount of hair shedding they do all year. I’ve never had dogs that shed so much and constantly. So we’ve had to hose them down a few times a day. Which is fine by Whisky, the male dog, as he just loves being sprayed. But Sherry the female takes off and hides as she hates water.
Husband is amusing himself just now taking photos on his iPad. There is an application that distorts the picture and he’s having a great time taking his own photo. I told him he should post one to Facebook and say “this is how I woke up today”! If Evan gets his hands on them he would post it online, knowing Evan.
I’m looking forward to the weekend in Sydney. I hoped the weather would be cooler but the forecast for Sydney is very hot. Although rain is forecast on Sunday. We haven’t seen rain in ages.
Melissa and Luka are still in Whistler having a great time. Thursday they fly out to Japan for more snowboarding. Luka is great with languages and decided to learn Japanese. He’ll be the interpreter for the group. He also speaks Russian. Languages must be his strong point.
OK I’m off to work before it gets any hotter.

Bye……….

Sounds like you are really suffering from the heat. Hope the fires don’t come close this year.

Yes the hot wind has been really howling around our work building today too. But at least it didn’t get to the 41C predicted.
