Happy New Year, but I am melting!

My air conditioner has a broken water pump and all the repair guys are off because of the public holiday today. I can turn it on but the air coming through is warm. And today the temperature reached 39C. Tomorrow will be 39C too. We have 3 firms to call tomorrow and I hope one of them can come before I melt away. I have a wet facecloth round my neck trying to keep cool.
Apart from that we had a good Christmas. I may not be able to post any photos though because my computer says the memory card has nothing on it, but when I watch it through the video camera, I can see photos and videos. Perplexing.
We celebrated Christmas on the 24th so that we could spend the 25th driving to the tourist spots. The weather forecast was for a tremendous storm to hit Warrnambool, but we only had strong winds. Melbourne got the storm though, with huge hailstones and lots of damage. More people having to deal with insurance companies who never seem to like paying out.
It was good spending Christmas Day driving down the coast from Warrnambool to Port Campbell. Lots of Japanese and Indian tourists had the same idea, but places weren’t too overcrowded. The views were lovely.
Saturday night we celebrated New Year on the banks of the Murray River, listening to an ABBA tribute band. It’s the first time we’ve celebrated New Year for a long time. I don’t usually stay up to see the New Year in. But I just fancied going out for the night.
Husband’s birthday was on the 29th but we gave him his present at Christmas. He was surprised to receive the full DVD set of Yes Minister & Yes Prime Minister. I took a photo of his face as he realised what it was. But it’s on the memory card that my computer won’t read.
I haven’t heard from my brother in a while. He’s the brother who has alcohol caused dementia. I did notice his wife filled in the Christmas card they sent me, a job my brother usually does. I have no idea how he is as she doesn’t call or keep in contact. They’ve been married 42 years and I can’t remember her ever making a phone call to me or my mum during all those years.
OK that’s it for tonight. I’m too hot to think of what I want to write.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL AND MAY 2012 BE AN IMPROVEMENT ON 2011.

Bye……..

AMEN to the New year’s wish! Hope you get the a/c fixed soon…it’s awful when it breaks down. Do you think SIL would tell you if you called her?
